Complimentary Chairman’s Lounge Membership

These funds managers (particularly those with global funds) will put big $$s into Qantas's pocket.
I don’t think they do do they? People invest their money in the funds and the funds buy shares in companies from other shareholders and hold them for whatever period and take any dividends and capital growth.

No money actually goes to Qantas except if you were talking about something like a share placement, which the fund may participate in, but those dollars go to the balance sheet, not the P&L.

I’m curious if anyone here is a CL member or knows someone who is? I’m surprised by how little we hear from CL members themselves

Several of our top end execs are. Not sure of the current number who are but over the years I know of several mid to lower management staff including myself that have been guested in on occasions.

A friend who was SEAsia gm for a multinational was a member ; don't recall any particular comments about the lounge.
These folks are busy and anything that makes the endless travel grind a little more peaceful is welcome.

I will be very happy to be invited and be a Chairman Lounge member and settle for the lowest rank CLB (Chairmans Lounge Bronze) status. If auntie Vanessa is happy to approve my membership, I will gladly give AFF members some richer insights, inclusive of food reviews. 🙂

There is only one person qualified for providing food reviews and determining catering choices, that is John Sharp, the Deputy Chairman of Rex, John Sharp. Someone who understands that people in tight confined spaces like aeroplanes should be served food that you'd find at your local RSL is more than qualified to determine what should appear in the Qantas lounges.

Here's what the post listed

Some of these are obviously the OP adding stuff that they've experienced, so I wonder how many of these are documented benefits.
Definitely anecdotal stuff. I'd take some of that with a hint of scepticism - for example, why list the Ebay value of something?

I couldn't have put it better myself. I fail to see the need for yet another Chairman's Lounge thread.
Because AFF doesn't get it and (collectively) fawns over the prospect of attaining CL membership. THis is what comes to my mind anytime it's discussed:

CL isn't a flying status. Its the business currying favours with people of influence and that's all it is.. I knew CL members at a former employer that barely flew at all.
