Complimentary upgrades on saver fare

I booked a saver fare MEL --> PER and want to upgrade to Business. I have two complimentary upgrades left but I'm pretty sure I can't use them on a saver fare. Can I use points to upgrade to a flexi ticket and then use a complimentary upgrade? Or do I just have to upgrade to business from saver using 30,000 points?

Unfortunately UpgradeMe Points only allows upgrades to J not Flexi.

There's a few options:
- Upgrade from Saver to J with points
- UpgradeMe Premium Bid
- Change fare to flexi for an $80 fee + the fare difference and then utilise the Platinum Member Offer
- Cancel saver fare for $80 and buy a flexi with points and then utilise the Platinum Member Offer
