Yes it is interesting. I think we can agree that "U" isn't essential but if things aren't going well U or uniform may help. My conversation today was very much about being in U class. At least with the operator I had "U" seemed to be a key part of her understanding. Along with the fact that some punters want to pay more for the points and SC hit :)

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

I just finished a booking involving 8 sectors. Straight up the CSO said "You are wanting to book into Uniform class aren't you?". One of the easiest bookings I've ever done on the phone for any type of fare (with all credit to the CSO).

Take away the anytime seat rewards is good business for Qantas and will give better services in the future because more money will make new planes more often and better!

The more money from not having the cheapest seat rewards will allow old planes to get new seats like the 747s and get rid of the 767s and replace them with new planes. I think it is good ideas financially

How's your Dad going kimjongun? I heard he was ILL.

So you don't even have the good manners to say "don't worry about it" - you just hang up without saying anything? That's just plain rude.

You also should not be using the term "marginal any seat award" - the call centre operators have not been informed of that term. Follow the script provided upthread about "an any seat award booked from the classic award bucket" (e.g. U bucket for Business).

I say thanks anyways, I'll call back later, wait for their reply and hang up

Thanks for your incorrect assumption though

Without wishing to sound trite if QF is not a company you want to interact with then don't. It is a simple business decision on your behalf, and that is my point. I have more to lose than most if the MASA disappears but the reality is if it does go I will try to work out the best way to maximise my travel expenditure. It is an ever evolving experience.

Yeh it's pretty simple really :)

Great idea, that's what JQ do, on reflection i'm surprised it hasnt happened. cheers
If reintroducing MASAs to the new booking system is too difficult, all they would need to do is add a simple checkbox to the Classic Award booking form that says "I want to earn points/SCs for this award booking", and charge the appropriate extra fee.

I prefer to *minimise* my travel expenditure, subject to a given level of utility. But your approach is likely to make you more valuable to the airline :-)

A good solution without saying they got it wrong.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

will we get a cut of the profits if theye take it up?

They are not listening so far so doubt we'll get anything, they seem to like it the way the current lottery and time consuming effort is is, just that many customers don't like it :).

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

After speaking with Stephanie at the lunch where I asked her the real reason as to why (knowing that "technical" issues is simply a smokescreen) she gave the answer of, yes it might (is - but I'm an IT guru who has worked on booking engines in the past, and spend my days manipulating large amounts of data) be possible to include mASA's in to the new booking engine, but they couldn't justify the costs in doing so given it's a product which few outside the AFF sphere use, and ultimately is not a great product as far as QF is concerned as there is no profit margin on them. (aka a shortcut to status).

So whilst I would love JASA's to still be easily booked via the websites, I can understand business considerations around not spending big dollars building a feature into your website which undercuts your other products.

Indeed

It was mentioned somewhere, a few times, that Qantas decided not to let MASA's be bookable on-line on the new website

It was also mentioned they are up for review in about 3 weeks from today...

One can live in hope for 3 weeks.

The review was mentioned in the webinar as per post #1419.

I would suggest this weeks statements indicate the review is complete.

See post #2348 for cliff notes on the indicated outcome:
...
As far as the discussion go, the main points were:

- They currently have no plans to do away with them altogether,

Agreed. When I asked at the MEL lunch if they would come back online, the answer was "No".

The answer was not "maybe/perhaps/after a review/sometime/never say never/we'll think about it". It was just "No".

All we can do now is make the best of what we have.

Agree. We just need to suck it up, move on and be thankful that we still have some sort of an ability to book JASA flights. Time to put this thread to bed?

Agreed, this thread is dead.

As long as there is no more "enhancement" I could live with the occasional dud CSR.

coughbersome and occasionally uncooperative but many incl. yours truly could make it work by using the correct phrases.

Perusing the other thread would help one to expect the "right" amount of co-payment.

Come to think of it, there would be more U seats for us as not many - I suspect none - outside AFF would know of the correct phrases to get it going past the first few CSRs.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Well at least some will be pleased, best to wait for the next "enhancement" then we can suck that up too.
