Confirmed upgrade then IROPs, what to expect.

When I land in T4 (hlo), I don t need to clear any security or immigration right? I just walk (run) to tbit airside and my gate?
Correct. Carefully follow the signs to the TBIT and make sure you make a left turn into the terminal connector BEFORE exiting the terminal at the TSA area. If you step too far, you will be deemed to be exiting and forced to continue walking out, and then will need to go through TSA screening again. The corridor is immediately adjacent to gate 41, I've highlighted it below for you.

If any doubt, ask a gate agent or someone who looks like a harried frequent flyer, they will probably know where this turnoff is. I've highlighted it in yellow for you (bottom of map) :

Ah, the old LAS to LAX delays. I’ve done this route too many times to count, and it’s often late!!

I think you’ll be OK, the flight inbound to LAS is in the air and looks like you should have a full hour to transit. It’ll take about 15 minutes to walk. You just have to make it before doors close. And QF is often late leaving LAX.

Just be prepared for your bags to miss the flight.

Edit: This looks like the reason for the delays. All airlines are delayed.

Great map and explanation, thanks, now that I know the path, no more anxiety and associated risk of doing a stupid mistake. Waiting in LAS now.

Those delays at LAS seem to be mounting up, your inbound is now another 30 minutes late - just coming in for descent now. Hopefully they can turn it around fast and you're not further delayed on departure. FlightAware reporting average 1.5 hour delays for LAS departures (but decreasing). But keep pressing on until you are either on the QF plane or have the closed door in front of you. As I said before QF are often delayed out of LAX so ignore the status on the screens. Hopefully someone will meet you at your AA gate, there's often quite a few Aussies connecting from LAS.

If you do miss your connection all QF & AA flights tomorrow (14th) from LAX are effectively sold out in J. However SYD & MEL are both I9 on Saturday (15th) so if you need rebooking and can stay the extra time be sure to ask for that.

Looks like you’re going to have 40 minutes including deboarding and boarding, so you’re going to have to leg it!

You should make it though.
only problem is sometimes airlines decide if you can make it all on their own and proactively offload you!

I had that happen once on a domestic US trip, highly annoying as it turned out the gates were nearby each other and I arrived a full five minutes before boarding closed. Argued about it and they eventually reversed it and offloaded whichever standby they had put in my seat (I take it was a staff traveller, not sure they would have done that if revenue).
