Confused about status review / requalification?

I've done not a lot of travelling in the past year and expect to drop from silver soon.

My review date was 30 Nov and a couple of weeks later my 'status review' has gone through. Prior to that I had a paltry 59 status credits showing...now my status credit balance is 30 and my account summary shows a 'Maintain Silver' section and tells me that I need to earn 200 SC to maintain silver by Nov 2012. Since the status review I also notice that 2 single entry lounge passes have been added to my account which is of course a silver membership benefit.

So it looks to me like I'm staying silver for another year...despite the fact I should now be in my 1 or 2 month grace period depending on whether the new or old rules are applied. My card states silver benefits expire Jan 12.

Is this a mistake, a goodwill gesture, or I'm missing something...any ideas??

Same here, status matched gold last year.

Have not flown Virgin enough to retain gold or silver.

My account shows I'm Gold until Nov 2012. Nice

is nice when I do choose Virgin. Now for a Cairns lounge?

I recall when every QF heavy hitter was comp'd to DJ equivalent levels, they did promise to look after their loyal earners... Perhaps the time has come!

Well that would be nice!

I had been planning to stump up the $300 for lounge membership while silver benefits still applied, taking a chance that I'll get some benefit from it over the next year. Now I can delay that purchase until I'm more certain of future travel plans. Otherwise I would've bought it before a flight I have booked in Jan...will be able to use the lounge passes now.
