Confused Post Requalifying

You might want to go back and read through this thread again. The T&Cs are misleading about what they actually intend them to mean. The intention is you need another 500 AFTER you have got your 800 to requalify. Yes we can debate for ever that the T&Cs may not necessarily sound that way, but I can assure you that's what they are intended to mean.

no I was gold and got to 1000 so qualified in april for plat so they say I need now another 500 to get partner gold( Im at 1360 SC so 140 to go) and another 300 then for qualifying to plat by april. this sounds like it is correct
does anyone think differently?

I am bad with numbers, and this post has confused me until today when Velocity rang and said because I have a SC balance of 1000 they are allowing me to gift Plat!

Here is my status situation.

On March 8 I hit Plat and since March 8 have earned 1000 more. When I hit 800 the account status showed I have reached enough to requal next March 8 - target achieved.

Reading this threat, I thought 'earn another 500 ie: 1,500 for Partner git Gold, or 1,000, ie: 1,800 for Partner Gift Plat.

Wrong! I am at 1,000 since March 8, and my partner now has Plat. I checked today - it HAS happened!

So why didn't they call me 500 Sc ago about a Gold gift?

While still confused I am of course grateful for the partner benefit as is partner.....

They changed the requirements a few weeks back on July 16th.

Let me try and explain again using exact numbers.

1. Gold Member with 810 SC's
2. Earned 560 SC's from 2x LHR-MEL flights (used family pooling)
3. New SC balance of 1370
4. Overnight - Upgrade to Platinum at 1370 SC's

Basically, your upgrade to platinum occurs the night after your reach or exceed 1000 SC's.

So in my case, the additional 370 SC's above the required 1000 qualification level do not count towards anything. Therefore meaning that I need to earn 500 SC's on top of the 1370 that made me Platinum to get partner gold.

Yeah that sucks - I'm about to do the same - am at 880 and a trip with me and my gf to JHB will get me 560 SC's - hoping the first 280 post and get me to Plat with 1160, then the return 280 post later and count towards requal, partner etc. Still p!ssed I loose the benefit of 160 SC's though.

FYI - I did get your PM but they don't work on my iphone or Samsung and I'm overseas so haven't got to replying from the proper website! Without going into detail I do think you've been lucky, and things likely change once the loyalty management team work out what has happened!

Yes, the very next day partner status had shifted from Bronze to Plat! Remarkable really .....

To recap, I am at 1,000 SC since review date which means I requalify (review date is March) PLUS I have partner Plat.

My short take on this, if you hit requalify (800 SC) sufficiently prior to review date, just get 200 more (sufficiently prior to review date) and they will ring you with the happy news! But wait: now I am confused. So if you earn 500 SC after review date, on your way to Plat requal (800) then they call you at the 500 point and offer you Partner Gold?

Well there is a good number of people who have received either partner Platinum or Gold and there is others adamant that the terms in the T&C's to get partner companion Gold and Plat are not correct.

I spoke to the Platinum service desk this week and it turn out it is quite simple (as some people have already mentioned in this thread).

You are eligible for Partner Gold in either of the following 2 situations:

1. You earn 500 status credits after being upgraded in Platinum.

2. You earn 500 status credits after passing a review date if your membership level stays the same.

Parter Platinum is the same but require 1000 additional status credits.

Yes, but there is "many" adamant that this is not the case and "many" of them have not called to verify either. I initially highlighted this in another thread a couple of weeks when I noticed the terms had changed.

I have pointed out the terms as well, I suppose the other thing to point out is what the member benefit period is;

Total Benefit Period means the 12 month period from the date a Member upgrades, downgrades, or maintains their Membership level.
