I am affected by the withdrawal of the Qantas PER-SIN flights. I have tried contacting Expedia Brazil but do not understand the options as they are not in English. I have booked a flight and hotel which need to be changed.

Need to know how others have done this, and what option I need to select to speak to an English speaking person.

You should be able to contact an english speaking expedia (USA) and sort it out.

They won't help you as they didn't make the original booking - they will refer you to expedia brazil instead.

There are some instructions here (I have no relationship to this site, but the instructions were useful), and some commentary in the longer expedia thread. Remember when selecting options "Vooz" = flight and when you eventually get through to someone the most useful phrase you can remember and practice (or have ready to go using google translate audio function) is "Olá, você fala Inglês?" (Hello, do you speak English?) NB: I found it more likely to get English speaking operators during the morning Brazilian time, and less likely during the evenings Brazilian time.

Can you not contact Qantas to sort it, now that they have changed the schedule markedly. Please let me know the outcome if you do, as I will be calling QF tomorrow to move 2 flights.

I contacted Qantas twice to try and get this matter sorted before posting to this thread. Their answer was to contact the agent whom I have made booking with. They could see by their records I made this booking with Expedia Brazil and they were unable to assist. I have called both the Australian Expedia and the US Expedia and their answer was that they are unable to see my booking even though I gave them my Expedia and Qantas booking numbers. The Australian Expedia put me through to the Brazil site but it was a 45 minute wait and then I hung up as I still could not understand what they were saying. I also have written to them but received no reply.

I will be contacting Brazil again to try and get this sorted out using the information kindly provided above. Wish me luck! I will post my outcome once complete.

I might be able to help as I made a few calls to expedia.br recently to cancel a flight booking. Dial +1 (949) 333 4964 - yes, it's int. code for US but it'll take you to the .br site. You'll hear the options in Portugese, keep pressing 0 (I think about 4 times) until you get to a ring tone. Most of the operators speak english and are extremely polite and helpful. FYI, most of my calls were made in the evening (i.e. between 7-9am Brazil time). Good luck! :p

I think this may be agent dependent, or perhaps the QF call centres have new instructions not to take over these bookings, but I have in the past made changes to .br fares direct with with QF call centre after an involuntary change. Maybe try calling at a different day/time to see if you get another agent. If that fails, then try the advice above.

I have.br flights too. I thought Qantas would automatically rebook me onto something and either QF and/ or .br would just notify me of the change??? I was hoping it might be a viable option and if not then I would start wasting my time trying to sort it?

I'm not booked till October, so time is on my side - currently waaaaay too busy to chase it up and I'm not even confident QF have the resources to get it sorted quickly. We have 5 pax travelling and need to connect to BKK on a QF flight codeshare with 3K. so I will be remaining in denial and simultaneously keenly watching to see how everyone else goes. Surely common sense would prevail for QF to sort the mess directly! Just wondering how it will go with Qantas club too? Using the lounge is a major factor when we have 3 kids in tow!

Thanks to all who posted information on how to contact Expedia.

I was fortunate enough to get an English speaking person right away. To cut a very long story short (1 hour) the news is that Qantas have not contacted Expedia Brazil to advise of the recent changes. Expedia Brazil were completely unaware of them and insisted my flight was confirmed and could not understand what I was trying to convey to them. I then spoke to a Supervisor who contacted Qantas and confirmed my story. Expedia Brazil is unable to proceed with any changes until they receive the official Qantas Policy. Once they receive this, they will be contacting people.

I am also keeping an eye on the Qantas website under Fly, Major Disruptions for any further developments.

It took me a month to get through it all but the Duo Lingo ipad app was great to give me a rough idea of Brazilian Portuguese.

Did you get a credit for the refund? I need to cancel a ticket for a companion who can't make it on a QF Ticket I booked... thanks!

hi all,

i have got through to expedia tonight ok and the first operator i spoke with could speak english. as per above, i called the +1 949 333 4964 . I think i pressed 1 then 2 (and maybe 1 again- sorry i wasn't paying enough attention). anyway it was only 2 or 3 buttons and i was through to a human. i used the suggested phrase "ole voce fala Ingles" and despite my bad accent it worked!!
have to say though - MAKE SURE YOU USE SOME KIND OF CHEAP CALLING SYSTEM eg. SKYPE. as my call has been over 50 minutes so far..... Im typing this to pass the time whilst I am on hold!

I did have trouble getting through initially - I keep getting hung up on with obrigado! (thank you!). A little googling with google translate and I can confirm that the call centre currently is open from 8am - midnight Brasil time. No point calling outside these times.

I think my hold time has actually been with issues at Qantas end - they had all the info there earlier today which was noted by Qantas for my agent (expedia), however its either getting lost in translation and/or the Qantas notes aren't clear enough. Either way, anyone calling expedia, hopefully this post helps reiterate the earlier info on how to contact them is still current!

Use a cheap call cost method and be prepared to be patient!
