Has anyone signed up for this?

You can get free miles just for inserting details into your profile. Wonder if it will be a good *A option.

I signed up for this a couple of months ago, and have collected the 3,000 bonus miles.

The program seems like a bit of a work in progress, at this point. I have studied the Star Alliance award chart, and a sweet spot appears to be awards between Australia/NZ and "South Asia". This is the same price as an award wholly within Australia/NZ, except that "South Asia" includes basically the whole of South East Asia, including Hong Kong, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh and various other places. This award would cost 30,000 miles in J each way, or 60,000 miles return. As far as I can see, open jaws and one stopover are also permitted on round-trip awards. So for mine, that would be a pretty good use of 60,000 miles.

But... I can't see any info about buying ConnectMiles, or whether they will sell any at all - let alone prices. It is already possible to do a very similar award using 50,000 United miles - and they can be bought (there was even a 50% bonus miles promotion a few days ago). So, if we were to get any value out of the Copa program above what is already possible with United (and Avianca), they would probably need to offer 100% bonus miles - when or indeed if they start selling them. I know that they're at least thinking about it, as "buy miles promotions" was one of the options in the questionaire I did when completing my profile, when asked what my favourite types of promotion were.

So, I guess with this program, it will be a case of "Watch this space".

^^ excellent summary Mattg. Theres already an established thread for this program.

With the exchange rate down the toilet I dont think this is going to be the saving grace we hoped it would be, unless they do 100% buy bonuses like lifemiles does. I do miss flexible *A awards!

If they sell miles for USD35 per $1000 (which i think they will), do 100% buy bonuses (which is the biggest question mark), access SQ regional J, have a fully functioning booking engine and allow stopovers on round trips ill be happy.

Has anyone done the Copa status match?

I got matched to their Platinum level which is Star Gold but I note in their program it only gives lounge access when flying internationally.

You must have done it very early on or had an american status to match?!

What programme did you match from?

And when did you status match if you don't mind me asking? Just sent off my status match today!

I first attempted to match EY Gold about three or so weeks ago. Whenever it was that I tried it was before there was talk that you needed to match an airline in their region. I received an email within a few days saying thanks for my interest and to check back with them at the end of the year.

Earlier this week I tried again but this time sent my AA EXP card. It was matched with 48 hours.

I've had a closer look into the lounge access limitation. I think I was over-analysing it. The Star website says only UA members are restricted on Star lounge access. Entering my Copa credentials into the Star website's lounge finder says I have access in economy. Maybe the restriction noted on the Copa website suggests that if you're flying with Copa, you must be flying internationally to get access.

Gave them a call yesterday re. status match with AA EXP - they said to send the e-mail through and they'd assess. CM are a decent airline from my limited experience of 3 flights!

Lets see how it goes.

To update - just matched to Platinum until 02/17. Time to use those upgrade vouchers!

I wonder if they will match to Avianca - another *A carrier in the Americas.

Also, how long does their match last - 12 months?
