Do miles credited back have original 3 year expiry or 3 more years?
Damn - good question - NFI - but I was looking for an excuse to call Crystal in KF call centre - will have an answer for you in morning on that one knasty.

Cruiser, just to let you know, the Pudong SQ lounge is an absolute disgrace, I would never go back there again! I am assuming PVG means Pudong in Shanghai?

Thank you so much for clarifying the fact I have to call into the London SQ office to cancel my ticket. I better have the London SQ office phone number handy in my wallet before I leave Melbourne to London in late December.

At this stage, it is a 50/50 bet, as you know Cathay pacific never releases their F class redemption seats only up to 4 days before the flight.

I always tell myself if I can't fly Cathay F class by then, I can always go back to my A380 suites class :)

Cheers

Just wondering if this is a good way to recycle expiring miles if it's the latter...could get up to 4 more years if you ticketed expiring miles for a flight 12 months out....

Yes it would be great if those refunded miles can last another 3 years!!

Otherwise for me, I think those miles that I get refunded, only got 1 year to run!

500k miles I get back, with one year left, is very hard to use up!

YES PVG = Pudong and YES Pudong Lounge of questionable quality and have frequented it many a time.

But bear in mind this is not SQ Lounge - it is indeed contract lounge that all *A members use - typical of almost all Chinese lounges - abysmal.

Cruiser, I don't know why SQ never invested into good lounges in Shanghai?? Surely SQ is large enough to operate its own lounge in China?

If you have been to HK, the SQ lounge is simply superb!! even better than the Silver Kris Lounge in Singapore!

Original 3 year expiry !
Yes of course you are 100% correct df - I am such a simpleton. Indeed when you call KF call centre to cancel a confirmed redemption they ask you to hold online whilst they check to see if any of the points to be redeposited have indeed passed their expiry date.

Wouldn't that be a factor on continuing with the SQ Suites redemption? If your points are going to expire, then this is a good use of them, inspite of what your wife might think.

I sort of agree with you, given my points only got 1 year to run, better use them all up this time.

However, I always feel Cathay is always a better product for F class, the food is better, and service much more personal. Also it is a direct flight from London to HK. For SQ, it takes more than 20 hours to arrive in HK.

The only factor holding me back is the Suites class, which I have never flown before on SQ.

Really hard to toss this time!
