Counting nights for connecting rooms - Diamond

A left-field question.
I'm making several bookings for family holidays coming up. Likely about 15 nights. We will most probably be booking 2 rooms per stay, ideally connecting (One for my wife and I, and a twin for the kids). ALl booked on my Diamond account and paid on the same invoice.
For the purpose of counting nights towards status renewal, would Hilton likely count this as one or two rooms, ie 2 nights effectively per actual night?
Also, does anyone have any Diamond upgrade likelihood experiences when booking connecting rooms?
Thanks

One night only. You will get the base points for the two rooms.
Upgrades much less likely IME.
