Couples travelling in J on the refurbished A330

Hi all

My wife and I will be travelling J BNE to SIN in a few weeks and are in 3E and 3F.

For couples travelling together is it better to sit in these 2 middle seats which are separated by a divider , or choose say 3A and 3E where these 2 sides are open to each other.

We are in our 50s so we are not honeymooners, but I'm not sure I want to be peering over or around a divider to have a conversation

I have never travelled J on the "new" A330 so am having trouble picturing it.

Zero chance communicating across an aisle.
Only chance is the two middle seats though outside of the A380, noise levels make it difficult for wife and I to talk on any plane.
Probably the only benefit of Y is being up close and personal makes talking far easier.

We always sit one in front of the other on the A330 QF J
Always get told we are not sitting together
No, we don't change this arrangement
We are happy as we chill out in our own area but close enough to stand up and chat if required
We figure we have all the time to hold hands and chat at the destination

Everyone has different feelings on this - best ask the missus/partner

Also, the row numbering is deceptive. 3A is more aligned with 4E, not 3E. You can check it out on SeatGuru.

Mrs Waflyer and I have done both across the aisle, as well as the middle two seats. The middle two is definitely the best option. While you have to lean forward a little bit, it's not too bad. You can easily have a conversation if you want and is way better during meal time in particular, which is when we tend to take off the headphones and 'eat together'.

Agree with DC3.
The numbering on the part on the overhead bag hold area, relate to the prior arrangement, where 3A, 3B, aisle 3E, etc, but after this new fangled reconfiguration (*edit: refurbishment*) that QF did to their A330, the lines don't match anymore.
One behind the other is the best.
I sat in 4A or was it 5A in J on an A330 (QFd flight MEL - SYD), thought I had a dizzy spell, as 3A didn't match with 4A, across the aisle, or one behind the other. Thought someone was going to come to tell me off for being in the wrong seat!
Someone in their mind, didn't do some thought processing/thinking, when they made the decision to reconfig the A330s, they should have taken off the row numberings and reset them so they made sense.

Absolutely agree with KitKat.

We have tried the two centre seats on our SYD - SIN leg early this year. Apart from the occasional quick chats over meal selection and hand holding during take-off we ensconced ourself into out own space.

Since then we have had across the aisle (her preference is the window seat which I happily oblige) combination and both on the same side combination. She is happiest with the window seat and I am happy to get the window seat behind her.

The cross aisle alignment differs significantly between the 333 and the 332. But an odd A seat with an even D seat 9 (or odd K and even E).

Hi, have travelled Re-configured layout twice on the 200's, if this is your plane, we find 1K/2F, 3K/4F, 5K/6F on the right hand side the best. Being on the same aisle means you get a similar level of service, eg, meals & drinks offered at the same time & these seats only have the small dividers up by your head making easier to constantly see each other without up lifting from seat. The aisles are small so can learn slightly to talk. Hope this helps,
