Not familiar with these fares so can anyone give me a total figure incl of taxes for the 9 city combo at USD1620 (Business)?

why don't you make a dummy booking and see what the taxes and surcharges come to and do it yourself?

I wonder how it works with a start point as MNL. When booking a QF flight with MNL as a start point you need to be physically in the Philippines and present your CC and PP at the office within 2 days of purchase.

What happens with Qantas is irrelevant, with CX, you need to show your CC on checking worst case scenario.

I think you are wrong there. I travle to Mnl every couple of months and know that the booking process when outside of the country is difficult for ticketing whether it be for QF or ANY other airline. Unless you are using a local airline or purchasing a return ticket, buying a non return ticket originating from there is difficult unless you are in country.

If you read the thread you linked there is no issue:

 I know about the official policy of having tickets ex-Philippines having to be issued there. However, I've never had a problem buying them outside of the Philippines nor traveling.

1999: Bought one-way MNL-BKK on TG in the US.
2000: Bought one-way MNL-HKG on CX in the US.
2010: Redeemed BA miles for 3 one-way tickets for MNL-HKG-YYZ on CX in the US.

And yes, I'm in the US, not writing from a Philippine prison. :)

That thread is on the context of AA anyway, which has nothing to do with CX ex MNL. Given this is a return ticket as well, there is no issue, and BTW you can purchase tickets with JQ same way with no need to present to a local office, despite them being QF group, which is the same situation as in BKK. CX simply hold the booking and ticket it on presentation of the card at checkin, as per their warning: "Please note: The physical credit card used to pay for tickets must be presented by the cardholder for verification at check-in, or when collecting the tickets. Otherwise the cardholder must present the physical card used at the nearest Cathay Pacific Ticketing Office for verification prior to the flight departure."

I booked an ex-MNL ticket on CX in May for travel in July - no problems there. I only needed to present my CC at the check-in desk.

Just because you are calling from australia doesnt mean the ticket is not being issued in the Philippines. In this case it will be issued by CX in Manila. Issues have arisen before for award tickets where the ticketing carrier does not have an office in the Philippines... eg bmi selling ex mnl. So... no need to worry.

Well thats okay then if they will allow you to do it at check-in. Qantas requires you present at their manila office (which is just a travel agent) within 48 hours of purchase which is a pain in the cough if you want to book a ticket while in Australia or your outside of Manila when booking.

As I mentioned previously, what QF do is irrelevant in this context, they have the same procedures for tickets bought in China, HKG and Thailand, yet Jetstar does not. There have been quite a few threads about it, along with workarounds.

I am fairly sure you can show your CC at check in at HKG with QF.

Yes : The Credit Card holder must verify the card used for this online booking at check-in or at the Hong Kong Qantas Office prior to departure. The cardholder does not need to be travelling.

I just came back from MNL on a one-way BMI redemption MNL-BKK-SIN-SYD. I did not even go landside prefering to do everything at the transfer desk. I did not show credit card and I did not pay the departure tax either as I was in transit. The ladies at the gate were curious about not paying departure tax and wanted my previous boarding pass which I refused to hand over. The current boarding pass had a transit stamp at the back which was more than enough.

I have also booked many CX ex-MNL returns and I have never had an issue and I have only ever checked in once in MNL as the other trips have been transits.

I'll add my voice as a respondent to the thread to also safely mention that mostly airlines that I frequently travel with out of MNL such as SQ, (PR, TT, & Cebu Pacific - international) do not require me as payee for the appropriate tickets to be in Philippines at the time of ticketing.
I have purchased many tickets ex MNL over the past 13 years to various destinations on the said airlines routing structures & have never had any issue. There is the random occasion that I have had to physically show my credit card that the booking was made with to the check in agent though, not an issue as I always carry on hand & expect this.
On a side note though, I have purchased O/W & return tickets on QF ex MNL & have had to visit the GSA in MNL within a specified time to verify my physical being in MNL & verify CC against my passport.
I do find this to be a coughbersome & antiquated process in modern times.
Cheers,
jl

I was attempting to do a dummy booking to check taxes and charges but it would appear that's it not possible to do on-line and must be booked by contacting Cx Philippines reservations number.

When doing a Multi-city booking on the website there is a maximum of 4 cities.

I agree, it is really annoying to have to do that. Being able to show the credit card at check in would be a lot easier and save time.
