I am a Canadian student and I have just started med school in Australia, so I will be in Australia for a few years.

My uni allows credit card payment for tuition fee. I would like to know what is the best credit card that I can apply in order to earn some points on my tuition payment and travels. The one problem is that I do not have a job or any income in Australia. My parents will be paying my tuition. Is it possible for me to get a credit card to earn points?

Thanks so much.

Speaking from experience, with no income your chances of being approved are effectively zero.

If the exchange rates aren’t too bad your parents could pay on their credit cards, and earn points however they usually do, and then give them to you if the program they’re connected to allows this.

But until you get a job, with most likely at least $20k annual income, you wont be approved for a credit card. After all, you’ve got to pay it back somehow!
