Hi all

I am progressively fuelling my obsession with credit card sized gadgets and devices and was wondering what other people use/have and whether they are travel related. I am always on the lookout for small things that can be used when travelling. I have had an eye on the Swiss Army Card but given it cant be taken in hand luggage I can't commit to one.

Currently I have only three qualifying items"

Chargecard - this is an iPhone charger that is basically the size of a credit card - www.chargecardproject.com/‎

The Slice - this is a bit fatter than a credit card but is a small plastic tool with a ceramic point that just pops out of it. Basically is the knife you take when you cant take a knife. I have found when travelling internationally and doing the odd bit of gadget shopping that I get back to the hotel all set to rip open my latest purchase (generally yet another pair of headphones in my quest for perfect headphones) that the blister pack is unopenable without scissors. The slices literally cuts through that. - Safety Cutter | www.sliceproducts.com

Sim holder - I have a neat little credit card size plastic sleeve that holds about four sim cards and an iPhone sim tray opener. Great when going to multiple locations and switching sims to avoid roaming charges.

On order I have a Pocket Tripod:360 (Pocket Tripod: 360° wallet-sized iPhone stand by Geometrical Inc. & Rambod Radmard — Kickstarter) which is a stand for your iPhone that is credit card sized.

So does anyone else have a similar obsession and suggestions of more ways to pend my redundancy payout?

Cheers

S

I have a 4g data storage device that goes into a USB port . The connection folds back into a slot.
Haven't tried it yet tho - it was a bonus freebie on an Internet purchase
It even has the space for your signature at the back
Where did you get the SIM card holder?

I have one of the slim CC size magnifier

Useful in case my +1 forgot her glasses to read the menu

PS: the link shows a similar product as I could not find mine on the web. I bought it while in Tokyo last year.

I have a credit card sized LED torch - bought as a souvenir in Berlin.

I have just added the micro-phone as well now - shipping later this year.

Get a Swiss Card:

Victorinox SwissCard Lite - Sapphire Swiss Army Knife | mySwissArmyKnife

Don't try getting on a plane though with it, because, OH NO IT HAS SCISSORS!!

A friend had his confiscated. Those 1cm scissors can be a real hazard you know *cough*

Your friend is not alone, the security chap was "kind" to me and said I could go back and check it in with my other luggage. I can image the delight of the Qantas check in crew if I did take up the offer to go back and do just that....

Hi Simongr, this week I bought a couple of Luggage Trackers from Jaycar. Credit card sized unit with a luggage label holder for attachment to checked bag and a small controller to search for the unit on the baggage at the destination. This could be a bus terminal, or airport carousel.

Asked the sales guy if the baggage unit was transmitting once activated at the departure check in. Or only when it "hears" the controller ie recieve/listening. Doh!

Supposed to have a range of 120 metres line of sight. So with the bag unit "on" and the controller "off" during a flight will it contavene the "turn off electronics" while the bag is in the hold and not accessible?

I just ordered two ChargeCards - I love that idea. The Pocket Tripod looks fantastic too but I just can't pre-order for a 2014 delivery...I'm far too impatient. :)

I've just found a sim storage device on ebay that I'm going to buy - didn't even know they existed until you posted. Brilliant gadget.. Thanks for the tip! :-)
