Hi

Hope you are well.

I am using my credit card more than ever these days but don’t have one that is cheap economical and collects frequent flyer points with quaint cough (Qantas)

Any tips on a well priced card apart from diners and American express which are not accepted with a lot of vendors I deal with.

Thank you

Best regards from out west in Perth

Well are you using the card for business or personal use?

With regards to points, AmEx's 1.5 Gold Maximiser with no annual fee for year 1 is probably the best way to go as an ADDITIONAL non vendor card.

Apart from that you are in trouble if you want an AFFORDABLE non AmEx or DC card that earns good points.

1:1 points cards that come to mind is probably the Woolworths Mastercard. Cheap annual fee (I think $40 py) and unlimited points.

Most other banks are bad at points with cards like ANZ's Standard and Gold Visa with 1000 and 2500 1:1 point caps with 2:1 after.

Have a look around the other forums coz I think there is a thread that discusses this exact same topic.

Amex and MC

Agree with the previous poster.

I have an AMEX Rewards Maximiser which for first year costs nothing.
At 1.5 points per dollar its great value, but I have about a 70% hit rate on getting it accepted. So right now the plan is to use it for 11 months and then cancel it.

I also have a Woolworths Master card. 1 point per dollar. You also get 1.25 points per dollar if spending at any of their stores. Second card for the partner is also free. However since they also take Amex at Safeway and BigW right now I am still using the Amex.
