Getting McDermott back as bowling coach was vital. He was doing well with our bowlers before he quit last time - was that because of Arthur Mickey?
At the 5th Test in Sydney on the third (and, as it turned out, final) day there was the innings break before England batted again. I was sitting in front of the Brewongle stand and right in front of me McDermott set up one stump and got the bowlers to bowl to him behind the stump. He was calling out for different deliveries (I think) and they ran through a number of them then all of them managed to hit that single stump - even Watto - with a full toss mind you! I was pretty impressed. Then they went out and bowled them out in less than 32 overs.
This team is not full of champions, nor is it brilliant - although I'd say it's one of the best fielding sides I've seen - but it's achieved a heck of lot since the end of the Ashes in England that no one expected of them. The next India tour is a ways off (they just toured there last year) but it will be the real test (and Tests). The final frontier that even Steve Waugh's team never conquered. Gilchrist's team did though!
