Criteria for 28 Degrees card by GE Money

Citibank Plus does not use those rates. It uses the Visa rates:

The historical rates disagree with my statement by 20-30 cents over AUD 80, in my favour though. Could the difference be that I used a Citibank ATM (Singapore)?

No. Citibank Plus has no forex fees at all. I suggest everyone who is contemplating a 28 Degrees Card for cash withdrawals instead gets the Citibank Plus card, and uses the 28 Degrees Card as it was designed, as a credit card (for purchases).

Citibank Plus Transaction Account - Citibank Australia

(this means if you can find a Citibank ATM at your destination, you pay no ATM fee at all. If you find some other bank ATM (eg HSBC) you may pay $1-$5 ATM owner fee. This would be the case with any 'other bank' card).

See page 2

Therefore, no forex fees.

The depth of research / organisation is commendable - even from someone who is not contemplating an overseas cash withdrawal in the near future.

Well done and well presented.

Thanks

Thanks again Deka...have a great new year (and to all other members as well)

Reading up on 28 degrees master card and I've found this thread useful, thanks.

Can't say the same for the 28 degress web site! I go to 'Apply now' (for the 28 degrees Mcard) and it opens a blurb on all the GE cards. Click on the '28 degrees' one and it takes you to 'Apply now' ... and so on. OK, appears to be web glitch. (Checked cookies accepted etc etc)

Call their number - reply 'new application' to the electronic voice question and then get asked for my acount number .. again ... and again ...

Anyway, to cut a tedious story short, a human eventually tells me there's no web problem, then puts me on hold; 4 mins later says 'try again in 5 minutes'.

I guess some things don't differ that much with credit card 'customer service' :)

Added: ....aaaaand 40 mins later, with a re-boot, same issue. Oh well, no 28 degrees application for me for now. :(

I have rec'd, but have not used the card as yet.
Just thinking about at methods of payment.

On line in my account under payment methods it says:

"The customer reference number (CRN) is your 28 Degrees MasterCard account number - this can be found in the top right hand corner of your statement.
Please note that using your card number instead of your account number will result in delays to your payment or your payment not being received".

Nowhere in my account or any of the emails sent to me, can I find my 'account number'.

So, apparently I will not know my account no. until I use the card and get a statement - or am I missing something here?

Ok thanks, I won't stress about the account / card no. Yes tks, I did spend hours this arvo reading that thread.

The part that made the most sense to my tired brain is this part - is it still extant in your collective collective experience? Very sorry I can't remember who the author is:

"... Aussie777s advice is good but extremely complicated. An even easier way of doing it is just to log on to your account, see how much available balance you have, then go make the cash withdrawal, and see what the new available balance is.

The difference between the two available balances = the amount of the cash advance\ (provided you haven't made any purchases or other transaction in between).

If you bpay that on the same day it will cancel out the cash advance.

It reallly is no big deal if you get the amount of the cash advance wrong... if you take out $1000 and bpay the same, but the actual amount comes in at $1001, you're only paying interest on the $1 - and your purchases are still interest free - so its not at 'vital' to get the amount right as aussie was pointing out.

Then again there is an even easier way. Just take the money out, estimate how much it would be in AUD, and anytime you happen to be at a computer over the next day or two, pbay the money in.

This SAVES having to log in, check balances, withdraw cash, check balances again, pbay and have all the stress and worry about 'getting it right'.

Withdrawing $1000 will cost about 50c a day. Using the above method I pay around $2-$3 a month in billed finance charges. A fraction of what I save by using wizard, and no stress or hassel to race and check amounts and withdrawals, or to make sure my account is in credit etc etc. but each to their own :)"
