Don't know if this applies to Crown, but a lot of hotel chains have a Best Price Guarantee. If you can find an identical room for an identical time period at another site other than the hotel's own, you can claim the lower price and get an additional discount too.

There're typically lots of strings on these guarantees though.

Bathroom design looks similar to Crown Towers.

Re breakfast in Ramsay - presumably you can use any of the Crown restuarants as they all use a centralise billing system (eg. you can bill Nobu back to your room!).

Gym actually has more cardio equip than the Towers gym, although water in Towers is gratis.

Just reporting back ...

The highly anticipated stay at Metropol went smoothly.

I was given Room 2141. It was spacious and very comfortable. The design, decor and finish are excellent.

Probably the best hotel I have stayed at in Melbourne. I would definitely stay again.

I echo the words of other reviewers regarding check in. The queue when I arrive was about 10 long and it took ages to work through them. All check-in desks were operational, but with so many new guest (details not on record) everyone was at check in at least 5 - 10 minutes. The person who checked me in handled the delay very well, was warm, friendly and courteous. Well done in the circumstances. Check out was also a bit of a mess, but the line moved quickly.
