Last week I checked into Crown Plaza Melbourne. With my IHG Diamond membership, I was upgraded to a suite and received free breakfast.

It was a rather special experience to have a top-floor suite overlooking the Yarra - The only thing I could knock was the age of the televisions (which didn't support streaming or casting), and when I called reception to ask for a HDMI cable they said they didn't have any.

Is it just me, or is providing high-end AV as important as the quality of the bed and the view in a 5* hotel?

Yes, the Melbourne CP is showing its age in some rooms. But I still like the location and views can be great.

I have learned to carry my own HDMI cable (for connecting my laptop computer) and an Amazon FireTV Stick (turns any TV into a Smart TV for streaming most services).
