Cruise line loyalty programs

Got Elite with Celebrity after 3 cruises in Aqua Class and Power Up Points during Covid.
Haven’t cruised since 2018.

Thanks for that. My husband and I applied and both are now Grand Admiral…very handy should we ever cruise with Ponant again.
I love that title.

We’ve done three with Celebrity in Aqua and another one next month and won’t make Elite. What am I doing wrong here…

44 nights plus the power up points got us over the line.

Over 20 years, I’ve done four Celebrity cruises, 36 nights - at least 2 in Aqua but still only “Select”. Although, I went from about 180 points to 285 just off “Power Ups”!

A cruise later this year will tip me over to Elite. There could be at least two more Power Ups before then but they won’t be enough.

We took one cruise Sydney-Hawaii in 2013
under the previous Celebrity Loyalty Program.
Conversion of previous points to the current Loyalty Program around 2014 helped.

I never received the power up points from a recent video promoted as one that earns them.

I did a celebrity cruise in 2015 so have emailed them to ask why my account isn't active and why it doesn't appear on there. They have been very good at emailing and said they will follow up

The free cruise on SS is only if you have done the time on SS. Number of nights on other lines that you have used to Status match doesn’t count.
Here’s an opportunity to build up your Silverseas VS nights. 149 day 2027 World Cruise!

I remember a Cunard QM world cruise - the most expensive suite came in at $500K but remember this was about 10 years ago. I passed on the opportunity,

I don't find that itinerary that exciting though

I/we look at cruise lines as we look at hotels. They are all pitched at a different level in the market as are the benefits and returns you get.

We have done two cruises (14 nights) with Norwegian. The first was our very first cruise (Pride of America around Hawaii) ever so we didn't know what to expect. The second was last year on Norwegian Jewel in Alaska. Great trip however a lot of weird and wonderful things so no real enticement to go bad. Norwegian were very dismissive of feedback so I suggest we won't hurry back there.

One cruise on Celebrity Solstice (12 nights) and that was actually pretty good with a few interesting oddities. eg no standardisation of drinks between bars. We just haven't been back there yet.

Two cruises (19 nights) on Royal Caribbean. Both pretty reasonable however the ships are just too big even though that's the trend these days for most lines.

One (7 nights) on Cunard's Queen Mary from New York to Southhampton. Great trip though typically British and rather formal. Interesting watching the Poms out 'sun baking' on a grey windy day.

One (19 nights) on P&O International Aurora which was actually a great cruise.

Three cruises (maybe 15 nights) on P&O Australia. First two were typical P&O bogan cruises and the third was a 4 night experiment to see what they had done to the former Golden Princess now that it had become Pacific Adventure. (nothing)

One cruise (about 8 nights) on Carnival Splendor which was fortunately cut short by a cyclone and the start of Covid. No further comment!

The balance of our cruises have all been on Princess ships including part of the maiden voyage of Majestic Princess. The figures here include the P&O, Carnival and Cunard totals. My Captain Circle accounts says 33 cruises and 387 nights.

We met someone recently who actually lives on Crown Princess. The husband and wife have been on Princess ships for 2247 nights.
