I'll be very interested to see what you think of it. How long is the trip? And I’ll be on it! (SYD-PER, just to experience this ship.)

Nine nights. I’m not particularly a Cunard fan, but they have good entertainment, including a string trio around the ship, and I don’t mind dressing up. I probably won’t get off the ship except to have lunch with my BIL in Melbourne!I'll be very interested to see what you think of it. How long is the trip?
They had a dress up night on my transatlantic crossing and someone I met was so excited to get dressed up and I was chatting to her in the bar afterwards and she was very disappointed. I think it probably depends on what you're expecting but I am interested in your feedbackNine nights. i meant dressing up as in formal nights. I‘m unpacking my dressy dresses! I don’t bother with the theme nights, except black and white. My late husband and his mate hated having to wear suits, so loved the “African“ theme formal night on Queen Elizabeth when they both wore African shirts from the markets! They had a dress up night on my transatlantic crossing and someone I met was so excited to get dressed up and I was chatting to her in the bar afterwards and she was very disappointed. There are some very good late booking fares. Surely you can fit in a quick cruise before your next trip?Fabulous. It's strange to have two Cunards here and this is QM's only visit this time?
Sorry I wasn’t clear. This was a theme night. She was a widow and desperately wanted a few dances and said they handled it really badly.i meant dressing up as in formal nights. (Both blokes knew what they were signing up for and did dress appropriately in their dark suits. Didn’t mean they had to like it, though!)
I’ll post my impressions during the cruise.
I looked! Fabulous prices indeed. There are some very good late booking fares. Surely you can fit in a quick cruise before your next trip?
I found the dancing hosts a bit creepy tbh.Sorry I wasn’t clear. This was a theme night. She was a widow and desperately wanted a few dances and said they handled it really badly.
I have a friend who is travelling from Perth to Cape Town on her - leaving mid March. I do like QM2 - would happily sail on her again but not QE (and probably QV as she is the sister).Apparently QM2 is in Australia soon?
I did read that the dance hosts had been suspended (for want of a better word) due to COVID risks......

Makes a lot of sense.I did read that the dance hosts had been suspended (for want of a better word) due to COVID risks.
Balcony Midships Deck 12 BB class Pacific Encounter SIN-BNE Departing 25Mar23. Purchased from sale in Dec 22Can you give details of the cruise and is it an inside cabin? Thanks
Yes I think that was the issueI did read that the dance hosts had been suspended (for want of a better word) due to COVID risks.
That’s an excellent price for that trip. I don’t think I could ever do an inside cabin. Many people say they are never in their cabin but I do like the fresh air of a balcony and enjoy watching the world go by. I have never booked an inside cabin, and don't envisage I ever will.
I love to avoid all the palaver of formals photos and shows and trivia and karaoke etc and for hours sit on the balcony and watch the water go by. For me a cruise is for getting away, relaxing and avoiding socialising perhaps occasionally sitting in the atrium listening to a pianist or trio with a drink in hand.
I'm not taking a suit and do not intend to attend any dress-up nights. While everyone else is doing that, the hot tubs will be empty and relaxing.
I couldn't knock back the discounted offer then topped by the 2 for 1 deal, which meant I could cruise alone for the price of one fareThat’s an excellent price for that trip. My husband didn’t dance, so he sat while I had a twirl with a “gentleman host” one night. Creepy, indeed! He was hitting on me! In retrospect, I should have reported him. A widow at our dining table was on the cruise just to dance, and scooted off to the ballroom every night straight after dinner.I looked! Fabulous prices indeed.

I have an inside booked for a cruise with son in July - as I am paying for both of us it was important that we have our own cabins. It’s only 9 days so sure I will survive.Yes I think that was the issue

I used to try hide. I was just there watching those who could dance. Ballroom style. Not participate. My husband didn’t dance, so he sat while I had a twirl with a “gentleman host” one night. I won’t be venturing anywhere near the ballroom on QM2!
When I was young, I did ballroom dancing, entered competions and won medals, then I met Ron !!I used to try hide. I was just there watching those who could dance. Ballroom style. Not participate.

Ballroom dancing (though not the competition type) was the go when I was young. We lived in the country and each month or so would go to Echuca for a dance. It was Pride of Erin, Barn Dance, Lancers etc. When I was young, I did ballroom dancing, entered competions and won medals, then I met Ron !!
