Cruising the Kimberley coast on Le Laperouse, Darwin to Broome

Booking in for a heavy duty suspension upgrade on my vehicle. Jeez, I hope they can do it before Saturday night. 😱

😛

Be a shame if there's only middle seats remaining too. I do hope to see the white jacket though.
Oh, I geddit now- I thought JohnM had mis-posted. Well, just f’n :)

I really like the rear deck on your ship; quite spacious. You obviously hang out there quite a bit as well, including breakfast and coughtail hour.

@RooFlyer your Captain is an arrogant frog and as such should be put into a large pot of water which is slowly heated. He would never last on Silversea and most Expedition cruises.
When we cruised the Kimberley on the Orion the Captain was seen every day. At the Mitchell River we did the helos in the morning and they offered a zodiac cruise in the afternoon. About 6 of us were exhausted and stayed on board. The Captain chatted to the group, got the ship's tender lowered and we had a comfortable cruise up river. He was Irish and lived in Miami. regaled with Irish jokes nearly non stop.
But he did lodge the tender on a sandbank much to the annoyance of the Expedition team.

OK @Cruiser Elite here is the snazzy off - white jacket. As for matching shoes - judge for yourself if you can see past the stomach 😊

Edit: Never mind the stomach, check out the thatch!!
Yep that all makes sense now - for those who are totally out of the loop this how dodgy property developers from the Cold Coast of Tassie dress. 👍

My routine tended to be breakfast and dinner outside on deck 4 and lunch & general afternoon hanging out outside on deck three, the pool deck. coughtail hour tended to be from lunch until dinner 😳

Are there any non activities day?. Or is it go go go every day
Me? There is something on every day. Zodiac in the morning and often also a separate zodiac in the afternoon. Sometimes we do a landing, other times it’s just within the zodiac. Crocs about.

In the meantime there are lectures and films in the theatre, quizzes in the lounge etc The whole day is scheduled but I didn’t go to much other than the zodiac tours.

Just arrived in Broome this morning and I’m about to go on a dinosaur footprints tour on another boat in a few minutes. Glutton for punishment.

Anyone decide they wanted to just veg out rather than go go go? (Apart from Le Capitan)
Hard to say. I’ve got to know quite a few people who all anti on all the excursions, but their may have been some who just didn’t go on most of then but I would doubt it, honestly. There were a couple of couples whi seemed to spend a long periods of time on the sun lounges but that’s not to say they weren't doing excursions as well.

We are on a South to North hemisphere repositioning cruise in May. I think there are 7 sea days but I figure Gulf of Aden and Red Sea might keep us occupied. Cruise ships are wonderful places when the passengers have left.

Trying this out on Sunday. Cruising from BNE to SYD with stop in NTL (anniversary LWE getaway) Don't intend to get off at NTL.
Kimberley expedition cruises are booked for the very reason of seeing and visiting as much as you can in that remote area. Starts are early, but tides rule the schedules. As much as you might like a sleep in, you’re not there for sea days.

Edit: Expedition ships usually don’t have any on board alternative entertainment during excursions, but just reading and enjoying the view is enough.

Captain's Gala. All the crew (except those immediately driving the ship) were introduced and walked past - about 9 from the kitchen, all the cabin attendants, bar staff etc etc

Some of the team waiting to be introduced. About 90 came up to be introduced (of abt 115)

This was neat. The thing below the chocolate top was warm, so it melted through the cap and the edges of the cap slid down around it.
