Short review and pics of my recent stay.
The hotel opened on 9th June and is the newest addition to the Crystalbrook portfolio.
Check-in : As this was the long weekend there was a large queue at reception and my attempts at OLCI were a fail. Took a while and there was a wait for a lift. My Mobile Key didn’t work either so had to stick to the provided wooden key.
We stayed in the Kingsley Master Room.
It’s very spacious, with a beautiful bathroom. Nice deep bath, twin showers and twin wash basins. Good Air-Con with intuitive controls. WiFi was fast and there is a sizeable lounge area which could be used to work from.
We had drinks and snacks in the top floor Rombergs bar. The restaurant is only open for breakfast until later this month. Smallish menu in the bar and a good range of coughtails and wine list. It’s extremely popular so I would advise booking. Tables are allocated for 1hr 30 min slots. We stayed on beyond our allocated time though
The room rate included breakfast.
Bring sunglasses is my top tip as the morning sun glare is quite extreme.
Breakfast is excellent, a continental set plus choice of a la carte, Juice, Tea/Coffee. There is an extra charge for Expresso coffee. Based on this and the bar snacks I have high hopes that the Roundhouse Restaurant lunch and dinner will be decent.
Overall I thought the hotel was excellent. It far surpasses anything else in Newcastle.
I would happily return.
