Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

What whisky do they have in comparison to SYD, Hibiki 21?
Haven’t seen that whiskey in either lounge...

Lagavulin 16, Dalwhinnie 15, Talisker 18. Have had a couple of Ardbeg whiskies there in the past.

Tastes are different of course. Perhaps I should have said they have a greater variety of that level of whiskey.

Thanks. That comment was in jest. Hibiki 21 tends to be one of the harder ones to find..
NH only have 17 in the lounge (21 onboard) and I think JL stopped offering 21 in their lounge.
Well they don't in HND and I haven't been to NRT for a couple of years which was the last time I had it.

I know. Hence my “...”

Mind you, if I did discover Hibiki 21 in a lounge I probably wouldn’t tell anyone. Assuming I liked it of course - not been lucky enough to sample.

Only flown out of HND once, earlier this year, and while I really liked the lounge there was no Japanese whiskey at all.

Bo Ssam - melt in the mouth, meat just falls apart, amazing flavours
Agree about the melt in mouth.

What was different was the Kim chi - not so.much fermented cabbage but slighly pickled and sort of Kim Chi flavored - more crunchy than you generally get in Korea.

I had the freekeh salad and pappardelle in the MEL lounge. Unfortunately tbey were both bland and extremely oily. The pumpkin and ricotta on the pappardelle were pureed, providing an early retirement home sort of texture. There were a few red flecks providing colour but no flavour. No amount of salt and pepper could save the dish!

That looks like tomorrow’s late lunch. And the Pav. Unless there is Risotto.
Enjoy!

I really liked the Freekah salad; its very simple but tasty.

The other day in SYD I tried the Thai Chilli Beef with rice and a fried egg (I think that's what it was called, forgot a menu pic) from the Market Inspiration section of the menu. Perfectly balanced with the egg yolk oozing through once cut open. Delicious.

That looks delicious!

We had the chilli beef a few months back and it was so good that feedback was passed back to the kitchen.
