The pork patties, beef brisket and coconut jelly for dinner tonight hit the spot. Had two coughtails Flying Fox and Brambled Highball which was very refreshing.

The pork patties were delicious. Super spicy which I like. Wasn't impressed with the dan dan noodles. I found it quite bland. The fried chicken bao tasted like the chicken had been prefried as it was dry and cold.

Some pics from a recent visit to Mel first with the fam.

Vodka /lemoncello spritz

Cheeseburger (master mort started disassembling before I could get the first pic), verdict was it was mid, so not good but not bad.

Beef brisket, tender and tasty and not dried out lime my last visit.

Dan Dan noodles, tasty but a little too much oil used.

KFC very tasty, probably my fav savoury dish on this visit

Pavlova, my current favorite iteration with mango

Here you go… it was very good.
This dish will stir a bit of pronunciation lesson with waiting staff. In December, the blonde waitress corrected me when I ordered Ocean Trout Tartare (ta-tar) and repeated Ocean Trout Tartare (as we call the savoury mayonnaise) to me. I gave her an aghast look but kept quiet. Last week the little Muslim waitress just smiled. However when I ordered it again after the brisket (left the half that was just a slab of fat, nature of the cut), the smile left her face. I fear she thought I was being greedy. She was right of course, delectable dishes brings out the mostly subdued gluttony in me.

The wine list is awful, barely above the domestic J lounge standards. Why this rapid descent to mediocrity with Qantas Wine having access to some excellent drops? Do people not complain about the wine as much?

On board in First it was indeed better but not by much. At least the Bollinger was a decent champagne although I liked the Pommeroy more.
