Just had a look at the website properly - Manila J return for $2390 is pretty good value! Great way to position for CX status runs.

Interesting how its priced at a G less than CGK or SIN... is it because perhaps loads in J are usually lighter to MNL ?

Any thoughts ?

You still need to get to TPE, considering the same fare will get you return J to Australia ex TPE I dont think its great value, as opposed to a cheapie positioning flight to TPE, with BR in * now thats easy through Avianca.

QF in J in still in demand for MNL.
It would appear QF are attempting to maintain/gain some corporate accounts since PR has implemented additional capacity.
It's cheap at that 2.4k fare though.. ;)

CX has had a lot of good ex-MNL J runs too. I just did a dummy MNL-HKG-MEL J return dummy booking and it quoted USD$2,888. TPE is normally a bit cheaper and a better place to transit and visit though, so point taken - but if you want to get into Asia on J in QF ex-Aus, that's fantastic pricing still.

That Manila airport is a real maze, so if in transit make sure you have plenty of time on your hands, more so if catching a domestic. Recently looked at TPE/HKG/CNS in J was AUD$2400 return.

I had a look through the Global Sale prices and that do not look very good to me:
DXB at $7.3k for J - a few months ago it was $5.2k
LHR at over $8k for J - a few months ago it was $7k
MNL is cheaper than the last sale but otherwise no great bargains here????

MEL-HKG RTN J @ $3500 is about $300 cheaper than the usual 'Sale' price. But ex MEL the 'old' A330's are still in place - these SO need an upgrade! I know its on the list apparently. but a few QF exec's need to get on CX and have a look at their J offer now they are all fitted out and then they will realise that $3500 is about right compared to the CX pricing ie QF need to be much cheaper!

I dont mind travelling via SYD and getting on an A380 or 747 on the way there but its a real pain on the way home to do the SYD connection thing (after an overnight flight). Cant wait till they get this sorted....

JNB ( Johannesburg) is on sale from $1699 in Y (Economy)..... whilst this might not seem such a great deal in comparison to other long haul destinations that Qantas fly's to, its worth noting that this route is rarely on sale for under $2200 return ex Syd or Mel.

Very Tempting to book another trip to a spectacular continent with its spectacular Scenery, Wildlife & Immense culture.

Cathay Pacific today notified a sale celebrating their 5th daily flight HKG-LHR. Offered J SYD-HKG-LHR for $6,993. Everyone one is getting in on the act!
Yes. What's the point of the sale if the Qantas J is more expensive when J in Cathay and even BA have BNE/SYD to europe for $7K with full SCs while Qantas /emirates are $8.3K plus?

Unfortunaley we've been forced to book BA:( Would have preferred Q/E but $4k more per couple and only SCs on QF to LHR only not toneurope on EK flights.

Does anyone know if its possible to book MEL-JFK with like a 5-10 day stop-over in LAX on the way up or way back?
How much will this add to the price ?

I found a great status run out of HNL but if our origin for everything is JFK will make things rather tiring.

I booked BNE-SYD-LAX........JFK (with an 8 day stopover in LAX).......then a 16 day break before our flight home.....DFW-BNE.

All good and the total price for 3 adults and 1 child was just over $22k.

Thanks. Solid price as well. You would have netted a decent amount of points too I'd imagine being WP.
Was it all on QF metal ? And most importantly lol, did you do a status run whilst there ?

Trip isn't till Dec this year - X-mas hols with the family. All QF metal QF8-QF11-QF107-QF8

No status run for me. I'm just about to hit LTG & this trip will qualify me for WP for another year.......I'm not interested in chasing WP1.
