Cutlery

Good afternoon.
Having recently travelled to Persian gulf with EK& QR , so impressed with meals, service and metal cutlery.I have given QF the brush off. Also recently flew QF to HKG. All aspects disgraceful. Only use QF for points on One World Carriers etc.

Have to travel to MCT . As Oman Air are one world now, thought I would use them. Frequency from SiN or HKT not good. So on their site could travel via KUL or BKK . I refuse to travel on airlines with a wooden or plastic cutlery in Y . They only on my fav airlines give metal . It only takes cleaning. On QR and EK It is like travelling business class on QF ( re service and etc).

I called MH and was told to call airport MEL. Then advised only plastic., so say no more. I am travelling to MCT, DOH,and DXB. So will go via BKK TO MCT, then DOH with WY. Sep tkt to DXB Air Arabia. Then back via MCT to BKK and then to MEL.

As you know changing carriers makes the fare so high.
My Question is can anyone think of a better way ??. Now WY is a one world carrier it helps though TG is not. But that is what WY offers . Would prefer EK or QR. but means backtracking. This makes the fare very expensive and long. Although a frequent traveller, I unfortunately cannot afford the most flexible fares.

I am tired of being classed as a second class citizen, but only want what we used to have, flexible fares with interlining. Also cannot find if WY use metal cutlery in Y. Prob not as fares much cheaper, but that is not the problem!.

Fair enough, but what's much worse IMO is non-metal cutlery in Premium Economy. I flew JL in PE HEL-HND-SYD last year, and the meals were from the Y cabin (quite poor) and had plastic/wooden cutlery (I only remember it wasn't proper cutlery). Never again, JAL...

There was a thread that went along the lines of "seemingly trivial reasons you choose an airline". Surely this belongs there.
If I was that bothered with the cutlery, I would pack my own rather than travel a longer route.. Before anyone says it would fail security screening, then I'd nick some from the lounge. This would work at most airports.

I carry my own tea/sugar and, on some trips, my own travel jug and mug, including a spoon (stainless steel 18/8!). I'm an early riser and from 4:30 to 6 I will have at least 3 cups of tea. Simple reasons; hotels seem to only give you 2 teabags, Lipton yellow label is cough!, using those coffee machines in the US the water never gets hot enough and the taste of coffee lingers, hate drinking out of the "thimble cups" some hotels supply and a lot of European hotels don't give you tea, coffee or even a jug.

my friend carried her own teapot and tea leaves - she won't use tea bags

I do not believe security is the reason airlines do not provide metal cutlery in Y and W, more so a cost thing to reduce weight and reduce cleaning costs. Bamboo cutlery can just be binned and weighs much less.

Agreed, the Q was certainly way, way out in the left field. I've never even thought about the cutlery and probably still wont. I was just glad the "green angle" wasn't dropped into any of the posts!

Its bad enough that when we travel in F and J that most of us do not have our meal served from the right with soiled items removed from the left.. but I take one for the team

You need to update that to a GaN version, along with a power board that’s all I need these days. In the unlikely event I am on a cruise, I will leave the power board at home. I do usually have some wooden cutlery, just in case.
