That would be a real scare to go through. I wonder why the captain didn't communicate there was a strip until just before? Perhaps seeking permission to land?
 
Isn't the mantra .... Aviate, Navigate, Communicate ... in that order?
 
There's no such thing as "permission to land". The captain is in control of the aircraft and responsible for its passengers. It lands where he/she says it does. Mainstream media has somehow created the opinion that forces outside the aircraft dictate where it lands.
