CX chairman: "Customers love our narrower seats"

According to this article, the Cathay Pacific chairman thinks that most Cathay Pacific customers prefer the new, narrower economy seats on their Boeing 777s. CX is currently mid-way through a refurbishment program that converts the 777 Y seats from 3-3-3 (9-abreast) to 3-4-3 (10-abreast). Obviously this allows the airline to fit more seats on each plane.

Has anyone flown on the reconfigured CX aircraft? How were the new seats like?

they are designed for passengers without arms and shoulders...

the seats are so narrow passengers of normal build has to resolve to "you recline - I don't recline" strategy to avoid crushing each other's shoulders during a flight.

Never again...

given my OW tier I can always pick seats for free, in whY there are only two seats in the whole densified 777 3-4-3 cabin which is ok -,the bulkhead leftmost and bulkhead rightmost.

I have no Cathay flights coming up, and it will be this way for the future.

having said that, QF 787 whY is still to avoid, but I do like their whY A330 and A380 etc. etc.

How do they know what customers like if the refit is done before the regular customers have a chance to experience it

It seems that JL is the only airline for which passengers are ready to pay $500 to $800 more to be comfortable in Y and Y+. In a QF 787, removing 20 seats in Y would increase Y tickets price by 15%, I'm surprised there is not a niche market for that.
Today I completed a QF survey about PE and I had to explain that I consider there is 2 different types of QF PE products, the good one on 747 and 380 and the bad one on 787. I wonder if anyone at Mascot reading my comments will even understand what I'm talking about.
