The departure lounges in HKG for OW pax are:

CX Operated

The Wing F and J lounges - both newly refurbished. The Wing F has a sit down restaurant, cabanas and a general feel of wonderfulness. Turn left after immigration to enter the lounge. They overlook gates 1 - 4. I sometimes find the Wing to be a little hot.
The Pier F and J lounges - not refurbished. The Pier F has a sit down restaurant/buffet. It is located at about gate 63 so great if departing from that area.
The Cabin - this is a combined lounge at gate 23. This has the funky new chairs but no showers, you have to mix with OWS pax ;)
Gate 16 - this unsurprisingly at Gate 16. It used to be a KA lounge and when I used it was carp. I have subsequently been shouted down in relation to my opinion about this lounge ;)

Non-CX lounges

QF/BA - There is an unrefurbished F lounge. Turn right after immigration. It is ok, close to the gates QF use, has champagne and showers. There is limited food. It is quite spacious but suffers from the same issues as the Wing in that I find it can get a little warm.
JL - I wont even tell you where this is - do not go there.

Personally depending on how much time, luggage and appetite I had I would do the Wing-Cabin-Pier if departing from Gates near gate 63 or Pier-Cabin-Wing if departing from gates 1-4.

If you were flying CX you would have access to the arrivals lounge as well!

Usually we are fast out of HK airport as Mrs Lime can't wait to check into Marco Polo and then shop and I can't wait to see my Aussie mates who live there (one runs the airport tower on his shift its an amazing place).

and Simongr and RooFlyer sure got me thinking, arr so much choice...

Anyone know if you are flying Dragon Air (subsidiary of CX) J, would you have access to Cathay lounges? Booked through QFF, didn't have the option to select the same code shared Cathay flight.

There is also a specific Dragon Air lounge at HK airport, and by all accounts is not great, so was wondering if they made it such that Dragon Air J can only use that lounge.

Yes you can use the CX lounges. I'm not aware of any separate Dragonair lounge.

G16 Lounge. It is not as good as the other lounges but is OK.

I suspect as a Dragonair business class customer you should be able to use any Cathay lounge at HKG airport.

I usually fly Dragonair economy from HKG to the mainland and have always been allowed into the CX Flounges as QF WP. So I can't see why you wouldn't have access to the CX J lounges. Be sure to leave in plenty of time though - I have come dangerously close to missing flights on a few occasions because I forgot most Dragonair gates are in the satellite concourse which requires a bus transfer.

Am very grateful you started this thread - am flying F for the first time into and out of HKG (QF/CX) and so these pointers have been excellent - thanks all! :D

HKG is just a great airport in general, lounge access or not.
The single seat semi lay flat couches scattered throughout the place are sooooo comfortable.

Sorry to rehash an old thread, but what is the CX Arrivals lounge guesting like?
According to the CX site a OWE arriving on a CX flight can not guest?

The short answer is no. The longer answer is maybe. I've managed to guest people who were travelling Y in the past, although always when flying J as a OWE. If you are arriving in Y, they might not be so accommodating to allow a guest.
