I have flown the regional seats HKG-DXB-JED - less than a thrilling experience...

The old ones - just illustrating that the definition of regional can be quite broad...

Seats look similar size to the old ones, just with a little more recline and a fresh IFE?

36Degree Recline, 46inch pitch Touchscreen IFE will be nice - think they look fine for the purpose and should be comfortable enough for short haul

it's a joke compared to SQ new regional J on the A330. these will be used on decent length sector like HKG-SIN and against SQ they look quite silly

The new regional J product isn't a world-beater but then do you really need a flat bed on a 3 hour flight?

Another comparison to keep in mind is from HKG/SIN to SYD where SQ has their excellent 380/77W product but also the angled-flat 330/772. CX on the other hand has a fully flat bed (and for SYD their new Cirrus product) across their medium and long haul fleet.

So really the 'regional' seat for SQ isn't just used within the region.

not flat bed but angled lie flat. CX use regional birds on pretty long flights too

Simon,

How does the old regional stand up to a 4 hour SIN-HKG flight?

Have a QF award booking on CX and they (award bookings) would not open up the only flight which has the A340 (with newish herringbone) so I am stuck on regional 777 with the old regional business seat.

Any chance of seats opening up between now and late November?

The other thing to consider is that pax from places like SIN or CGK travelling to north asia have about an 8 hour journey including transit and an angled lie flat would be more appropriate... in my opinion.

I actually think this seat will feel more spacious than the SQ new regional J which to me felt claustrophobic - all depends on how well it is to lounge on

I have an 8am flight so I guess not a lot of sleeping, unless huge night before :-)

CX operate a few 3 to 4 hour overnight flights e.g. HKG - SIN, HKG - NRT, CMB - BKK/SIN and i would think a new product that is closer to the SQ regional J would be more appealing on those sectors. Not big fan of the existing CX regional J product.
