This may well not be an astounding fare to many, but when faced with flying from SE Asia in the October NSW school holidays it did seem to be not too bad at all. I'm arriving in KUL in J on an MH flight from Paris, so needed an onward flight to SYD. Needless to say that there are zero Qantas award flights available.

The fare was approx $1320 vs about $850 on Scoot (not really much comparison there). Qantas was quite a bit more expensive (of course).

The flight from KUL to HKG is in Y on a 333 (but the window bulkhead seat is quite OK) and the flight to SYD on a 777 is PE, also in a window bulkhead (exit) seat.

Another benefit is the champagne bar in the Wing lounge at HKG.

Decent fare. Might even get the new PE on the 777? It's only the planes with ARIA suites that have the new PE, right?

Does it also involve an overnight in HKG like another date I found?
No, just 4 hours (plenty of time to relax in the Wing lounge and have the odd glass of champagne).

I noticed that the fare had gone up a couple of hyndred dollars today. Dis I do that?

I understood that it will be partly closed, but in any case if it is closed I'll be off to the Deck. They hide a decent enough champagne there near the Noodle Bar and some of the chairs are very comfy. I don't particularly like the Pier, but it would to some extent depend on the gate from which my flight was departing.
