CX = easy J award tickets ex OZ......something that QF doesn't offer:(

Wow... I must be looking on the wrong days... As CX Diamond I can almost never find any rewards seats apart from Y ex OZ.

I have the same problem. I've had waitlists for CX J several times and they have never come through :(. I'm not Diamond ( just Gold) but it is frustrating.
Got SYD-HKG, HKG-SYD on waitlist again now. Am going to try the CX Y+ cabin for the first time so if they dont come through it should still be bearable but I've got Asia Miles to burn and nothing to burn them on!

Cheers

With CX ex OZ I find that you will need to look for the seats a few weeks out. They release them then....

I remember a friend in Tokyo telling me about a particular seat release that CX do on the same day every month. His travel agent now books him on that day, so that he gets that particular seat at the reduced price every time.

He did tell me all the details, but as I rarely fly out from Tokyo, I didn't notate, but I know if I need to head back to AU from there, he said his agent will happily book it for me. :)

WTH are you all talking about? CX is the shining light of OW - losing them would be a disaster, MH or not.

As OWE / OWS with QF and AA at various times C have almost always been absolutely stellar, from published benefits to that little bit extra on board. JohnK, I'm very curious to know what you mean by 'dropping the ball'? I assume that's not measured in op-ups, seeing as they're like hens teeth for us on pretty much every OW carrier.

Most definitely losing CX (if it where to happen) would definitely hurt me personally - they are my carrier of choice in Asia from BKK, simply because of the fares offered and the wonderful service I have always received flying Y. I've flown J 2x and even though it was on their old "herringbone" layout, it was the absolute best sleep I've ever had. Truly flat beds are a winner for me - with QF J and their angled beds, I am always sliding down the seat and supporting my weight in my legs. :( (Admittedly I haven't flown J with QF for ages, so that may have changed.)

Thats my experience over the past 7 years.....have had no problems getting up to 5 J seats, even during school holidays.

Not sure why CX doesn't invest in QF if they're that worried about EK. They could also work with them on JQ HK so that they earned or didn't earn to Asia miles and weren't such a threat to their core business.

I see. That said, what you say and what you do and two different things. One of the things the CEO mentioned was that bringing a new brand to market is a big expense, but they could move all premium to CX and make Dragon Air the LCC brand. Or even just invest with JQHK.

Everything's a rumour, but if they're worried about what JQ could do in their market, and EK could do to OW, then investing a little, to keep their interests alive isn't such a bad idea.

Inconsistency. I do not care about op-ups as I travel in business class which is highest cabin most times on short-haul flights intra-Asia.

- Constant flight delays (resulting in missed connections)
- Close to an hour to sort out missed connection (while there were 20-30 people behind us waiting) and given boarding passes for the next night. Funny thing was every flight before last flight of night had availability and had to show ExpertFlyer to First lounge reception before they would give us seats on first flight out next day. Not good enough.
- Interesting offer for hotel room to have both of us males, not related in any way and travelling on different PNRs, in same room. We were travelling together but has that got to do anything? Not good enough. Anyway received 2 hotel vouchers. Oh and when we went to hotel there was only one room booked.
- Service in First Lounge (Pier) poor. Asked for a drink on 2 different occasions in same night and waited over 10 minutes and had to go back to bar and ask for drink again
- Onboard service can be hit and miss. And you know how all Oneworld Emeralds are supposed to get special greeting on board in business class. Does not happen.
- Damaged golf bag on last trip and reported at First Class check-in counter in BKK. Took all baggage tags from me, not given any reference, and was promised someone will call me when I arrive in Australia. Still waiting 4 weeks later.

Good thing about them though are the cheap SCs.

CX are an iconic brand especially in Australia. I remember the Barry white themes on some show on Saturday mornings and their cryptic advertisements in the print media.
