More interestingly, destinations in mainland China are less expensive than HKG...

And QF hasn't announced plans to have Y+ on their A330s. So it will be SYD or plain Y on QF.

Happy wandering

Does sound good even to London for $3069 from Sydney, $2787 SYD to CDG even better.
Just need to be careful as a lot of the flights don't have Premium Economy so travel is in Economy.
Also says "Where Premium Economy class is not offered/available, passengers will travel in Economy class without refund/compensation." so if the sub to a plane without PE after booking hopefully they would let you change without charge though from the about clause they could say tough.

It's cheaper the other way :)

HKG-SYD 2 person Companion PE fares on sale for 11k HKD at present ($1375AUD)

I got a terrific business deal originating in AUH....couldn't believe the price $1600 one way for the both of us taxes included

Bait and Switch springs to mind.

Regional aircraft on this route sometimes I think, best to check!

No it's old business 1 1 1 config from auh to hkg and then regional biz from hkg to kul. I am still happy for the price to try their product for the first time and may get lucky with an aircraft change!

That's not, legally, what this exclusion means.

It ONLY applies to aircraft where prem Y is not intended to be offered or available. So if you bought AU-HKG-PVG for example, and premY is not offered on HKG-PVG, you will travel in economy without compensation. (or if you purchased a ticket where one of the flight segments between AU and HKG was not scheduled to offer prem Y but you still chose that flight.)

If your aircraft is scheduled to fly with prem Y, but they substitute an aircraft, you are entitled to compensation. This is covered by consumer law in Australia by consumer protection law, and by contract law in other jurisdictions where consumer laws might not apply (for example, in HKG you could sue under contract in the absence of a consumer protection if they don't already have one).

For flights ex EU you would be covered by EU downgrade compensation law.

I priced some flights HKG-PER-HKG or the other way round. After Y+ is offered (on one of the two flights) the CX web site will end up showing economy fare classes if the flight without Y+ is selected.

Just sent CX Australian Sales an e-mail as to the specific meaning of the fare conditions, will keep you all informed as to the outcome.

From CX;

[FONT=&quot]If your original flights/booking has been confirmed with premium economy and is then amended to standard economy due to a flight disruption, Cathay Pacific will provide a refund on the difference of fares or you may rebook to an alternate flight date which provides premium economy. I thought that would be the case, but thanks to Platinum 332 for gaining that clarification off CX

even if CX had come back with something different it wouldn't have made any difference :) consumer protection laws can't be contracted out of.
