Hi, I am on CX174 next month, which leaves at 06:25. Realistically what time do I need to be at the airport. I was thinking ~ 5am, to coincide with the lounge opening. Is that allowing sufficient time?

Also I believe that customs and international security is after the lounge, so I would have to leave the lounge earlier than normal. How long should I allow?

thanks in advance

I have exactly the same query. I am on CX174 in two days and given my adelaide airport experience I was wondering when the airport opens?

Normally they ask you to be there 2 hours before for international which is 4.25am. I don't think I've ever been there that early even for a domestic so don't know if it is even open. I've only ever taken SQ or Qatar flights internationally from ADL which leave later.

I was thinking of getting there about 445 for check in. Customs/international security only opens about an hour before each international flight anyway and once through there is not much so you will be in the domestic part of terminal until that happens.

If it's anything like the QR evening departure (which I can't see why it wouldn't be), the lounge will let you know when to go board. Ie head off to clear customs etc.

4.30am - 4.45am is fine. I have done this flight 4 times . Qantas lounge opens at 5am but you can just wait at the door..

If flying business, normally only a few people waiting to check in.. economy will take a bit longer obviously with more people checking in

Excellent - Thanks!

I'm assuming by Lounge we are referring to the Qantas lounge in domestic, which unfortunately I am not a member of - yet - just up to 550 Qantas SC this year after beginning to do lots of flying again from May this year. Will be very close to 700 after this trip (all economy unfortunately).

Given I am lifetime silver with Qantas, and whatever that qualifies me for in OW, can I check in at the business queue for CX?

Did that flight few times recently. QF lounge opens 5am.
If traveling HLO you can do OLCI and arrive comfortably around 5:15am. Make sure your details are registered with CX as their flights ex-AU tend to depart late quite often (due to delays in China). Getting SMS notification the night before can add you some sleep time instead of unnecessary wait at the airport.
