Remember that when the next word starts with a vowel, you carry the last consonant across. So maybe it was more like 'Moe tet Chandon'?
Except Moët is the Dutch word in a French name - so it is a hard t sound for that reason (so Mo-wett) and not a hard t because if the following vowel (being the French language rule).
