Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Seems like Melbourne still has some catching up to do. A few $100+ wines on clearance with $20 discount which makes them closer to Dan’s every day price, but not much interesting yet.
Same with Perth - very uninspiring clearances with much smaller discounts than are being seen over East

Nothing in Sydney?

Not much happening in Sydney. I think the members here did a good job cleaning house earlier in the week. You will still find these at a few stores:
Lerida Estate Lake George Shiraz Viognier
Teusner Albert Shiraz
Pierro Ltcf Cabernet Merlot

Two dozen bottles of the Albert Shiraz (v2018) closed on Langtons last night between $23-29 (+16.5%) which suggests the BWS price of $28 is 'fair' and not a 'bargain'

I believe Langtons buyers have to pay an addtional fee of ~15% - so their true cost is higher

Buyer's premium is 16.5% so some lots still finished cheaper than BWS. Langton's estimate price was $40-50. Maybe there is just not enough demand for this wine to sell two dozen bottles at once, or maybe that's all people think they are worth.

Like others here I am trying not to get caught up in the bargain FOMO when the reality is BWS normal pricing is so inflated that even at 50% off a lot of the time it's not worth buying. Also looking back at some of my purchase in the last 6 months true bargains are not exactly rare:
EJ Carr $45
Devils Lair Chardonnay $15
Leeuwin Estate CS $20
Wynns Black Label $17

Got two packs of Albert for around 21 each with all the discounts. Spending 100+ or 6+ bottles will give you further 10%. Using code DYLAN or ANGRYDAD will give you a further 15% off

Got one pack - what really cheeses me off about BWS - there is no indication of vintage. I would be upset if it is not 2018 - but for around $20 it was worth a punt

I did go through a painful process of ordering BWS 5% off gift card so the total was $122.09

Is there an easy way to find these or do you go store by store?

There's till 8 bottles left at Kingston ACT at this price.

Got one pack - what really cheeses me off about BWS - there is no indication of vintage. I would be upset if it is not 2018 - but for around $20 it was worth a punt
Yes indeed. Equally maddening is random pricing and availability. For eg, the Kingston (ACT) store had the Eileen Hardy Shiraz for $59 yesterday. They got snapped up while I was trying to get 6 bottles but couldn't find anything else I wanted and then wasted time trying to find a store that had the availability/price combo. Weston Creek had some other wines but the 2 Eileens were $94 each.

Fair to say that ACT doesn't have much of the better wines so helpfully listed by @DLR

Mine was 2017. Not as good as 2018 but not bad either.

Honestly - almost feel it is better to pay a higher price and have an option of delivery than to jump through these hoops and be at mercy regarding the vintage, availability etc.

Glad that they are getting rid of decent wine so I won't have to shop there again.

I am tempted by the Teusner but having to drive ~35 mins I'm not sure if its a bargain anymore. I wish lucluc was around to offer his services
