Times change, back in the 90's/00's when Winestar was getting started they had an active Forum and regular trips around the major cities for wine dinners with customers. Then they got big enough to not need that and the Forum is long gone.I replied to an email from Wine Star saying how disappointed I was that they had resorted to selling the Curtis Cavaliere with its massive RRP discount, when usually they could be relied upon for recommendations: Mystery MC151 McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 - Mystery Wine
Perhaps I should have read the original email more closely as there was a comment about the RRP, but based on the reply I got (and removing me from the mailing list), they didn't appreciate my feedback...
In almost every case the Winestar mystery wines also appear on their site as regular listings, as do the mystery offerings of some other retailers such as Wine Direct. That makes it easy to identify, but I do wonder if it is really ethical to do that and are there any actual sales at the high price to less wary customers.
