Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

It’s worth remembering that these are sold as mystery boxes and their contents (including those that have another mystery box inside) aren’t generally exposed / made public.

It’s fun to dig in and unearth some of the mystery, and equally fun to place a bet on buying a hidden mystery product shared on a forum like this that could end up being a great bargain or could equally end up being cancelled with some probing questions sent your way.

In any case, it’s all part of the gamble - I’m not sure you’re going to get very far with arguing your case to cellar door, and I imagine we would see less of these revealable in future if people start complaining that they somehow managed to find out what was inside. 😅
Yes yes was a joke... 😉
I ordered a mystery box and got a mystery box

Agree. This time we gave so much damages to Cellardoor and likely we won't see any mystery box in near future unless they know how to hide their content further. I think this time it was a price error mystery box behind the original mystery box. They may intend to hide the content but forgot to update the price of the mystery box behind it. It was a gamble as they may ship a box worth $125 instead of $275+ box.

If we want more surprise in the future I think better not to make any complaint to them otherwise we will draw their attention what @SirCrumpet can do.

We need to give credit @SirCrumpet for his work this time.

That was super fun indeed. Haven't had a bargain hunt like that in ages.

They were trying to move over 300 of the box # 1/2s in total. I reckon it was totally deliberate on the pricing, and no error. I don't think they would have left them available for so long if it was a stuff up. I think it was moving stock to make some cash and room, and reduce in anticipation of some tricky times ahead.

I'm sure no one here would complain about the luck of the draw with these.

Can't wait to open my pressies! Well done all.

Completely agree. Now it is up to the liver to do some work

My Mystery #1 was switched to Luxury Collection Wynns (June 2023). I had the Mystery #2 already in the order so suspect they switched it to something else so I didn't get two boxes of the same. Pretty happy with the switch if it holds true for $125!
Santa came early - confirmed my box #1 switched to wynns luxury and box #2 as prior mentioned. For $125 per box that wraps up the best deal of the year! Thanks again @SirCrumpet

I'm hoping 100%. I ordered 10 of these last night.
Mine arrived this afternoon. I'd estimate the retail at in excess of $400. Based on prices I would be happy to pay/have bought at previously, the 6 pack is worth around $220. Great value for $125.

Riddoch is a CS so shouldn’t compare to that. It is an excellent drop across almost all vintages and sits comfortably beside other Barossa Shiraz in the 150-200 price range at CD prices - all of which are greatly overpriced in comparison to what they can be bought for around the traps - but it is a favourite in our circles - but as always we all have different tastes so go for it and make your own assessment 👍

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit daft , but the WB platinum is a shiraz and the Wynns JR is CS but you are saying they are similar level of quality despite being distinctly different wines?. This is reassuring to me as I like the JR alot and have never tried the platinum ( until my boxes arrive!). What would you say is a similar quality and style shiraz to the platinum?
