Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Anyone used myCellars.com.au - delivering Wine to your doorstep 24/7 before?

They have quite a few of the Halliday Top 100 <$25 reds in stock but never used them (or have any codes)

I've bought from them many times, they are efficient and good to deal with. They use Fastway by default, but will use Aus Post if you ask nicely. Their prices are usually pretty sharp, not always the absolute best, but often equal or close to the best and free freight over $250 orders, they don't often have discount codes.

Daaamn.... Good pick up Thor! That's a big old shame! I've had three already process, but I see now that they'll get rejected when they get processed in a months time--which has happened to me before with CR on different deals.

So don't factor in CR cashback when you're using your groupons people!

Also, I notice that the board doesn't have HEAPS of white wine talk, so I thought I'd just weigh in with a few people-pleasers that I've bought over the past few months:

2016 Kooyong Beurrot Pinot Gris from crackawines with a $50 voucher, plus 8.5% CR cashback is around $20 a bottle. I've bought it and it's a great, fresh, medium-bodied pinot gris, with a mixture of citrus first and other complementary flavours I lack the vocabulary for, that has a real good ending.

2016 Mesh Eden Valley Riesling also from cracka, that goes for the same price again with the relevant discounts -- $20 a bottle. I stock up on Mesh every summer and I feel bad about linking them to cracka because they probably see less profit than they deserve. It's got a great label, it's fresh and tasty and if you're having people over who like white it always gets mentioned. It's actually got a similar palette to the pinot gris I reckon, except there's that dry rieslingesque focus on acidity.

$20 a bottle for each of those is great I reckon. BUT I also think that with the CM deal at the moment:

Riversdale Estate Grown Tasmania Pinot Gris 2016 is unreasonably good value at around $11 a bottle. Particularly as a quaffer after you've enjoyed one or two slightly more upmarket whites.

Mockingbird Hill Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2016 at around $14 a bottle is also too good to look past.

I'm not sure if either of these last two are special Cellarmasters brands or whatever, but they're just actually seriously GOOD wines that you will always be happy to drink. I am anyway, and I like to think that I'm relatively discerning without being a jerk. Anyway, that's just what I think! I would love to hear other people talk about what they like in white because I'd love a few recommendations!

perchy
thanks for those tips. I have noticed most of the recommendations are for red and champs, so nice to mix things up with some whites.

I've had it happen a few times with VA flights that were taken but had to be changed

I’ve also had a few things track and not be paid, like Starwood accom and ebay. With the dramatic reduction in %’s (ie DM’s) and their minimum payment increasing to $10, I don’t really bother using them anymore. I’ve also found the payments used to be 1-2 days, but since they increased the minimum it now takes almost a week for the transfers to go through.

Happened to me once - the cash back was declined by the merchant. I assumed it was due to using a code that I found elsewhere.
On the other side. I've also had several CR from a certain wine merchant still go through, even though I cancelled order due to non shipment, or returned for poor quality

Nicks in Melbourne are now selling on eBay.

Mostly spirits. Prices seem to be the same as on the Nicks website.
Free freight on $200+ (2+ items), otherwise $15.

eBay Cashrewards is only 1%, but there is often a 5-10% off global code on offer, currently 5% with P5OZZIE.

nickswinemerchants | eBay

Wow, that Nickswinemerchant website itself is an absolute cluster**** of sold out wines. What on earth are they thinking!

They leave the sold out products there for review history, and I guess for SEO.

You can choose to display only Available products by deselecting the default "Show all products" under Availability at the top-left of the listings pages.

Nicks is one of the very early online wine sellers and still one of the best independents out there.

I've been buying online from them since at least 1997.

Tracking and paying are often different with cashrewards.

I've only been using them for a relatively short time (compared to you lot) but was pleased to see that one of my purchases from CM that was returned still tracked and paid out OK (much to my surprise)....

see above :)

Interesting email from Cracka, but I'm not going to bite, have enough to last through Xmas:

Right now, somewhere in Victoria, a winery cellar is looking a little more empty...

You see, we've been on a wine raid, prising out a small parcel of aged Heathcote Shiraz from a winemaker who was reluctant to let it go. And why wouldn't you be sad when this 2008 Mystery Museum Release Heathcote Shiraz is so very very good?

Made by a winemaker who is at the pointy end of organic winemaking, this seriously complex aged Heathcote red is packed with rich dark fruit, all with a lovely savoury edge thanks to almost a decade of ageing.

Hand harvested from a single vineyard block, wild fermented and aged for 18 months in barrel, this is speccy Shiraz at its peak.

What's more, you can now grab a bottle for just $24.99/bottle in six packs - more than 58% off the RRP!
