Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I've not had them before, but they look very nice! I'll have to go and have a look. The back vintages of Tapanappa was the 2013 and 2014 Tiers Chardonnay, they were both divine! They are sitting in the corner of the cellar for around 5 years tho, give them time to mellow yellow!
If you're having Dandelion withdrawals, the WD 30% off sale usually drops soon, don't know what the code is yet but I have a shopping list ready as they come down to $15.40. I need to be thrifty after doing a wine tour of the Adelaide Hills recently. Side note, if anyone sees any Tapanappa Tiers Chardonnay anywhere, let me know!

Dandelion Wines

Zonte's footstep is also good value, some good stuff to be had. Somethings get sold out quick tho, so I'll try and post the link as soon as I get it
You might just possibly find a referral link in the relevant thread for a discount too.

Anyone getting the St Henri 2014 for $80, DM 2 day only offer? Given how Penfolds have raised prices, doubt it would be going for much less these days...

It's on the front page of the Dan Murphys website, so may sell out quickly:

Fair price. But has been cheaper in the last 12 months. Cellarmasters with the ubiquitous discount codes is a good option for getting this cheaper when/if available. From memory they've had it in twin packs within the last 12 months.

Update: Checked my records. Got this from Cellarmasters for around $65 in early November 2017 in a twin pack. And got the 2013 vintage for around $60 in November 2016.

I’m skeptical of the QPR you’re getting these days on these pricey Penfolds labels.

Whilst the heavy discounts off the whopping RRP is attractive I think there are far better Shiraz alternatives to be had at the $75-$80 bracket.

I got a twin pack of this for ~$55 per bottle when Cellarmasters did one of their cough ups whilst a groupon $100 off was available but I then tasted it at the cellar door and thought $55 was actually a fairer reflection of the quality than $125.

Bought the twin pack from Cellarmasters last Nov for about $47/bottle and definitely not worth it. Wouldn't purchase again.

One thing was for certain from my tasting, the ‘14 St Henri is nowhere near ready to consume yet. I’d wait until it’s at least a 10 year old.

This is all a bit disheartening as I have a bit of St. Henri in the cellar. Having said that, I tend to agree with the general sentiment, and I have been pretty disappointed with them for awhile (since 2009ish). Obviously, some of the Penfolds marketing magic has affected me because I keep stumping up for each vintage though.

Very dark opaque, sweet. That's it. Not what I expect from premium shiraz.
Age will not add any complexity, although it taste a little better a few days after opening.

Sweet fruits? Ie, plums and dark berries? Exactly what I'd be expecting from that wine. Just needs to have balanced acid and should develop quite nicely.

What if there's practically no acid now. Will age develop more acid?
Can a fizzy drink that's flat be fizzy again?

No. I asked the question as you didn't describe the tannins or acid.

And to the fizzy drink yes...that's what SodaStream is for ;)
