Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Apologies if this is in the wrong spot, but it is a DM/delivery-related rage.

Ordered the $399 (pre discount) Barossa pack during the Black Friday sale. Got 4 or the 6 wines delivered quickly, acknowledged a delay on the final 2 as they were coming from interstate, which is fine.

Received a text message and email yesterday stating that the final items would be delivered yesterday: no show. Emailed DM: was told it would be delivered today.
Received a text message and email today stating that items would be delivered: I received an email and text this afternoon stating that delivery had “failed”. I’ve been here all day, no note or anything left on the door or letterbox.

Called DM, after being on hold a few times was told “delivery will be rebooked for 2-3 business days”, no explanation given for the “failed delivery”

What is the best move from here, aside from calling them again to rage?
Am I being precious?

At this point I may forget delivery from now on and just click-and-collect ...
In the past I have harassed them on the phone; telling them 3 people were home all day so either they were not telling the truth or went to wrong house. Also claimed loss of income. They then offered delivery or I could pick up from nearest store. Good luck

I can only imagine how clogged up postal services must be after the recent sales. Boozebud alone has had 2 huge 20% off (more like 25%-30%) sales. We regularly have the startrack guy arriving at 6pm lately, as opposed to previous 3pm... they have huge days. Last week at 6:07pm we got an 'unable to deliver, no suitable safe drop' update, the following day startrack acknowledged he was just worn out. May not be the reason for your delays, but im not sure that it would be DM at fault either.

I have a recording security camera and can tell if anyone actually called or if they left a signature-required item without a signature (or forged a signature like a Fastway guy did a while back).

Sounds like this is with Endeavour, used to be Nexday, owned by Woolies. They have actually improved their notifications recently, just got a message that a delivery is due tomorrow.

From now on all the delivery systems are going to be stretched a bit, Fastway seems to be already way behind and skipping scans so you can't tell where things are. Had one delivered last week when tracking still showed only Pick up a couple of days before.

Yup, popups appearing on Aus Post tracking app today warning of delays too because of the weather incidents in Qld and NSW. Things are clogged bad.
 
It is Endeavour indeed redbigot.

I’ll try to be a bit more patient. The notification inconsistency is a bit frustrating but hopefully that will improve over time. Not convinced on the “failed” delivery but I’ll chalk it up to busy season before Xmas

My first order included 4x2016 and 2x2015, perfectly acceptable, the 2015 is probably even better than the 2016.
6x2015 for me despite DM website saying 2016.

I know their usual disclaimer is there, but if I bought a 2016 car and the dealership delivered a 2015 model I wouldn’t be happy.

The analogy might be a stretch I suppose. :)

Wine / car vintage not a good analogy.
In this case 2015 is as good or better than the 2016, 2015 scored higher in Wine Companion, not that that is necessarily a good indication, especially as they were two different reviewers.
In three orders I got 8 x 2015 and 10 x 2016, very happy with that.

A few champagnes have reappeared this morning... haven’t seen the vintage Moët on CM before, but it’s around the mid 50 mark with discounts

Edit: Email back from CR showing expected cash back of $409.09 on a spend of $2,112 for 10 x 6 packs Moet C & C at BWS Mentone - you can do the maths. I did not even bother to try to buy Gift cards and wait the 3 hours for them to arrive at risk of sell out - $1.76/bott aint a deal braker and my time is more valuable than that.

But I did buy 2 x $500 Gift cards to grab 2 x Dom 3 packs @~$130/bott buy alas it disappeared before the GCs arrived - D'Oh - sometimes trying to be just too much of a Shylock can cost you.

But the moral here for everybody is that great deals to come along - you just gotta be patient.
