Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

When you place the order, in the delivery instructions box request Australia Post delivery to ensure successful delivery to a PO box or post office.
Worked for me.
No need to call them.

I ordered a dozen online bottles a few days ago, most of them mystery bottles after seeing them advertised here. The first 2 arrived yesterday but I was not home so I picked them up at my local postoffice in the afternoon.

Couldn't resist getting a case of the 2013 Clarendon Hills even though I am very well stocked with some superb wines (I am looking at you Rug:)) and after reading the Mattinson review for Halliday which is for the 2014 I was pushed over the edge:
It's an inky, full-bodied, muscular wine with blackcurrant, bay leaf, graphite and wood smoke flavours powering through the palate. It acts as though it's the last authority on cabernet sauvignon; every step along the way it feels in total command.
Can't wait to try it....

Tried the Clarendon Hills Brookman cab tonight, very happy, ordered another case. The above review wouldn't be far off the 2013 either. Even the bottle is commanding. Sort of reminded me of Shadrach; both big cabs i suppose so maybe that's a simplistic comparison.

I have also got Clarendon Hills Brookman cab 2013, and tries with Clarendon Hills Brookman cab 2005 vintage as well with a few friends. Both vintages are very good. Ordered another 10 cases, on top of 3 cases orders a couple of days ago. Very good deal!

Found the Halliday review for the 2013 Brookman in the hard copy 2018 edition of the WIne Companion and it reads very well: "This is unequivocally full-bodied, its well of blackcurrant and blackberry fruit in a basket of tannin and oak; the tannins tip the scales at the moment, but there is enough fruit depth to see them off in the years to come. Cork. 14.5% alc Rating 95 To 2033 $75" Having received mine now it is certainly a powerful expression of Cabernet and for the money paid jaw-dropping value:)

Tried a few stores (alexandria, wolli creek, kingsford, double bay) in sydney and no joy "No stores in this area currently have this product available"

I’ve tried MacArthur Square but there’s no stock even though online says there is.

Just received my CH as well. Only had a quick look at the bottle before heading out for work but it seems to be cork enclosure rather than screw cap as per website. What did others receive? Thought I would share.

Corked here. Looking forward to trying one tonight. Others have said they went on to purchase a few more cases - might be inclined to do the same!

They do not give too much away on secret wires...they probably use the same photo for all
but quite clearly shows cork on Dan's original offer (even though wrongly described) and winery website

This has my interest, anyone tried it before. Price and Vivino score would indicate a bargain. Shopback has 10% off, DM usually uses full price for cashback. Would come back at around $9 a bottle?? Would 2011 be getting a bit risky for Malbec age wise?

Gutted I missed out on this deal. If there's anyone in the Sydney area who boomed on this that doesn't want all of their two cases worth of this, please PM me as I'd be happy to buy some off you.

Thanks
The Warlock

Cork for me too but there don't appear to be an issues, I'm one of the few punters on here who doesn't appear to have any major bias away from cork but hesitate even voicing this as it usually ends in tearso_O...

I tried one tonight as well, was very deep purple and 'big' for a cab sav. Very smooth/easy to drink. Happy with the case I got, but won't be buying more.

edit: it was cork.
I enjoyed this much more then the CH shiraz that was floating around a few weeks ago

If history is any guide, expect to see the current vintage dumped in the next two months (assuming there's anything left to dump). I think this has already started. Prices usually heavily discounted. $15 is my target price.

Of course everyone has a price point that they are happy with. I just wouldn't be happy paying more than $20 for a wine that I know I could get for $15. Every dollar is important when buying wine :)

Same with the current Wynns/Riddoch deal or Penfolds BIN 389. For me the $160 is just a fair price for Wynns/Riddoch. The black label can normally be had sub $20 and it doesn't take much looking to get the Riddoch for $60. So 5 x $20 + 1 x $60 is about the right price. Not good enough for me to buy, given I have already purchased enough of those wines at that price point already. And BIN 389 is available sub $50 once or twice a year if you stack the discounts.

Hi Dr Ralph

RE your comment above about getting JR for $60..

Can you advise any JR for $60 at the moment ? Have been searching online and cannot see anything..

Thanks

Haselgrove Twist Primitivo at First Choice. A decent primitivo, not sure of the vintage yet. Comes back at $12.48 a bottle (if buying 3 + 3free) using $10 newsletter signup, and 3.15% CR ($5.15 CR)
Got the 2015 and tried one last night. Very lovely and, without doing a side-by-side, probably better than the 2013. Have ordered some more with the current BONUS2000 Flybuys points on offer and 3.5% CB.
