Given Dan’s red wine offer today, this would be a good fit at $50 a bottle, but no idea what it is. Any thoughts?

Actually cracked one last night. I picked up half a dozen for $13.60 each in last weeks digideals. Huge wine, sorry im not great with wine notes, still quite tanic, fair amount of oak - will be putting the rest away to mellow for a few more years at least. A bargain at the price we grabbed them, $50 would be a bit steep for this in my books though

Thanks @chonka, just grabbed 8 Woods Crampton.

I opened one of mine on the weekend and was not at all impressed.
sultanas and overripe on the nose and jammy fruit and not much else on the palate

Thinking of taking the rest back. Anyone have experience with returning to Dan murphys?
Can I just claim I'm not happy with it and get a refund?
Also - do they pro-rata based on the invoice price - because they're going to have trouble matching what was paid with any price they offered it at due to the discount doubling with digideals.

After opened a bottle, I returned the rest. it tastes like diluted. Any reason they will accept to refund. They will refund you whatever you pay in the invoice.

Yep I'm looking to return mine, I'm confident it would have been better a year ago and Dan's are just trying to clear it out now.

Welcome aboard TimS_15, as for great value - maybe keep an eye out on GTree as there seem to be a few come up (depends on location)
If you got a little more money to play with get yourself a Liebherr (eg: Barrique 195 bottles around $2730 discounted at Harvey N).

Don't waste your time with the Vintecs. The Vintecs are overpriced and designed by people that don't drink wine or know bottle sizes are not all bordeaux length.

A 170 bottle capacity Vintec is likely to fit 110 bottles (max). A 168 bottle Liebherr due to the 5cm of additional depth will get your pretty close to 150 bottles. Vintec - China made; Liebherr - Malaysian made.
Hope that helps TimS.

I have 2 of these from QF, very happy with them. They go on special every now and then, there is also usually a discount code in the QF birthday email - I’ve been lucky to stack twice :)

Took half of mine back, no questions asked, they just worked out bottle price. Really wondering if it was cooked or something. Really not the quality I'm used to from Crampton...

Edit: Tried another bottle tonight, definitely better then the first. A lot fresher, but definitely not a $40 wine. Really bad bottle variance, still wondering if the screw caps aren't up to scratch

I wondered the same thing. Just returned mine and said not sure if over the hill or just off. Was told they're a new product in stock. So that should rule out sitting in the store too long. My suspicion is they're cooked but I specifically avoided saying so as the returns policy online excludes heat affected wine.

FineWineCo have the Plumm Lygon Decanters on sale again- this time down to $50 (from $179.94)

These are magnum decanters and are pretty sizable. I purchased two of them when they were $25 each. When pouring, the wine really flows out of these due to the very long neck. Definitely a two hand jobby.
