Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Yes, my mate had them coming up at $46. He got them to show $42 by going in via a browser (not from email link) and logging in and out again. Also, look for them by working through the sale pages by going 'load more' til about page 4 where they are, rather than searching. Was weird. I think the $2 diff between him and me was then just that he is a new member and I'm 'bud' level. Good luck! (Even at $26 it's a good buy, but $22 is crazy good.)
I just checked again and the 2012 V&A cab shiraz is coming up at $42 for me... and that's when I search (the link to the list of wines on sale from the fair seems to have disappeared). Some other v&as are at $46 and some $40. Good luck!!

Langtons broker offered this one by email: 2017 Chateau Chantecaille Clauzel, Saint-Emilion for $45. I see some previous vintages mentioned on this site. Did anyone buy? If so how was it?

Has the code expired already? Not working for me. My fault for not checking forum over weekend! Had a bottle of St Peter’s in cart, but no dice.
I think it was until Sunday. Sorry!

BWS Mentone still has 2x Paringa Estate Pinot at half price/$37.50 or $33.75 if bought in a mixed six. I ordered a couple online, was a bit worried when I picked them up as they are 2010 vintage, then I read this: Paringa’s famous pinot noir evolution – Paringa Estate
The guy in the shop did say that one had previously been returned as faulty though...
Had the 2009 about six months ago and there was still plenty of life in it.

7 Years sitting on the shelf... And since its a more "premium" pinot it probably sat on the top shelf. I would've popped it open in the shop, grab the emergency wine glass from the car and take a swig before accepting them 🤣

It's risky to buy "vintage" wine from the retailer. 99% won't store in the fridge. A few months ago I bought an Italian wine 2016 (DM currently sells 35-40, also it is recent vintage)from BWS Clearance page. It's already destroyed. I returned the rest. The Array Elite NV still shows well.

Another example, 1-2 years ago, I buy Clonakilla Riesling 2018 around $13.50 from BWS Clearance, I opened 2 bottles. The fruity is obviously less than I expected.

A friend brought bass Philip premium around 10 years old, It doesn't store well. I knew he must buy from the auction or somewhere else, not from his fridge. It tastes bad, I will prefer $30 pinot from DM. If there is a storage problem, it will totally lose its value.

When an "old" wine is affected by heat, it may still show a mature fruity. Some people will think it is a good sign. But that is not totally true. Generally, I will focus on
. Whether breathing time is longer than expected.
. The power of the wine.
. How wide the wine spreads on the tongue.
The rule doesn't apply to every "old" wine. It is more on experience.

All in all, it's risky to buy old wine from a retailer.

Always plenty of old Mount Mary and Grange labels in large wine stores, with seriously faded labels from long periods of shop lighting and UV. Also wonder if air conditioning turns off overnight

I’d say it’s risky to buy old wine from almost anywhere unless guaranteed to be stored at the winery all that time.

Auctions are particularly risky as even people with the best intentions don’t always cellar their wines properly, not to speak of those who never bothered to do so in the first place.

Credit to Ozbargain for alerting everyone to some likely price errors for Under Wraps... a few types down to $54/case of 6. Seems there's some star lane etc.

Bought some Pinot I hope is reasonable.

Curious to know if anyone can find this one? Great Southern Cab Sauv 2014 (was 64.99 now 14.88)
I think its this - Forest Hill Block 5
