I think you're right on the mark for these @olympicwiz

Can't say that I've tried either of these.

I have ordered a 6 pack in each - even before I checked out - the producers were confirmed by DM - see attached. Used it in conjunction with cashrewards so hopefully will get $50 off it.

Thanks to all!

Will be curious what you think of the Octavva, I was going to get some then baulked ate looking at the reviews

The Rose Kentish Cab Shiraz just arrived from DM.

1) The bottles are a bit sticky
2) the soft top/cap has come off the top for some (meaning some are just exposed corks).
Image below.

Should I be concerned about how these have been stored?

That's strange mate, lots of things would be going through my head, particularly some sort of ullage has occurred and the bottles have been re-corked. Might be a bit paranoid though. Are the labels stained at all?

No stains I can see on the label. There is a blue barcode that appears to have been added on the back (maybe DM did this?) and there is a fair bit of dust on the bottles too.

My bottles of Jim Barry Benbournie had heaps of dust all over the bottles and dirt marks on the labels when they came last week. They also had those god awful red cellar release stickers on them (I wish they didn't put these on, they look so tacky and shred to buggery when you try to peel them off). Their storage of the cellar release gear must be terrible but I guess you have to live with that when you're paying basement prices.

Blue barcodes are usually cellar release, as the price differs from current vintage.

I had been holding off buying the Blackwell from Cellarone hoping to read some more tasting notes first - but with credits and another 10% off it was under $11/ 750ml bottle.....

Seems I posted in the wrong thread...... 🤔:oops:

Agree with Bin 28 and 311 valuations, ok price for $30 but wasn’t cheap enough to entice me to buy, especially when so many better wines have been flooding the market heavily discounted this year. I bet Penfolds are hurting from Chinese wine ban and if it goes on for longer they’ll have to eventually offload some of their premium reds with decent discounts.

More pressure on TWE, should lead to further discounts to offload excess stock in the domestic market.

Mine arrived in similar condition as per usual with DM premium wines, most are full of dust after being stacked on the shelves for god knows how long. I’ve opened one bottle earlier this week and it was surprisingly nicer than I was expecting (mixed reviews online). Not the most sophisticated CS but very good for the price we paid.

Jim Barry is/was selling those vintages directly. Hopefully DM hasn't held them for long. The ones I had earlier in the year drank very well

Having a Thompson Estate 2016 Cab Sav - ordered from Dan's on Wednesday. Its great, soft rounded bright red and purple fruits, gentle tannin. Amazing for $14.88

Got the Cellardoor Mystery Red $75 pack from about 10 days ago delivered today.

2013 Wynn's Black Label CabSav is the pick - $53 at my local Dan's. Chianti also seems to be a $25 bottle, Italian import but winery owned by Bettinger/TWE.
Other four are $10-15 bottles I think.

In my $125 pack I got three each of the Saltram winemakers selection grenache 2017 and sangiovese 2017. Pretty disappointing.

View attachment 234517Loot from $75 mixed case. Probably 20% off already reduced prices on cellardoor.co is my guess. Not disappointed at that price though I'm sure many of these could be picked up at discount elsewhere.
Haven't received $125 mixed box as yet. Anyone else have any success?
My $125 box had WB GL - @ 20.83 it doesn’t make me feel like I got a bargain But some have a bit of age I guess.

Langhorne Creek CabSauv 10, 12, 14, 18
McLaren Vale Shiraz 13, 16

Not a fan of GL, and not something I buy - even recently when it was going for a stupidly low special price.

Maybe these will change my opinion.......

Can't even remember who I bought this online from but glad I only got six, it would fool most people into thinking it was a Pinot rather than Shiraz, probably the lightest one I've ever drunk, not a fan of Octtava if this is any indication....

I think it is 2016 Piano Shiraz Barossa Valley
Wine Maker Nikki Palun was a giveaway in their secret deal

Cheers!
