Tyrrell's Drink Now Vats on sale for $90/12 delivered. Drink Now Vats Special Offer | Tyrrell's

I've only tried the shiraz and cab sav. Didn't rate the shiraz but the cab sav is perfectly acceptable for a midweek $7.50 bottle.

I don't believe the grapes are grown in the Hunter. The website implies they are but the bottles just say product of Australia on them

Don't be confused by the word Vat, that's their usual price. Their prices are dramatically different from traditional vat 1, 8, 9, 47

Likely Pertaringa OTT the note is from Winestate I think, the 97pt score "estimated" from the Winestate ranking. Or that's what was on the VM listing at $19.90 a while back. Shiraz 2018 – Black Market Deal #36884

You’re a gun. The “30% new oak for 20 months” matches a description on the Bec Hardy site too, which lists it at $40 RRP (as does the offer). Thanks :)

Has anyone here tried the OTT? I’ve tried the Pertaringa Undercover Shiraz and it was decent. This one is meant to be a step up.

The 2015 and 16 vintages were great and I picked up a few when Wines Direct had their 30% off. I can only imagine that the quality would still there with the 18 vintage. I hope that helps.

Fair warning: This post is not a deal.

It’s a public service announcement reminder that while you are hunting wine deals, the sales departments are using a range of tactics to get your money...

Whilst browsing a BWS yesterday I read the ticket attached to the Forester Estate Cab Sav which gave the appearance of a staff review:

3BFD2343-B5DD-4532-B677-D93C8B1BC096.jpeg

I though the review sounded vaguely familiar.

So I went to another BWS and the same wine had this review.

77DF99CA-8D50-4618-8281-E450ACE5BD38.jpeg

Coincidence?

These two stores are close enough (10km) that it’s possible the same person works across both. Also, the handwriting appears to be the same.

But if you’re cynical like me, it could be that the sales departments sends out little tickets that look like staff reviews. o_O

YMMV.

I always treat all these “hand written” tasting notes at DM or any other major retailer as paid promotion.

Even though they are supposedly written by staff members.lol

Maybe staff members do write these notes, as @paddywide said, but they don’t select the wines randomly. My assumption is they are asked to favourably review certain wines hence you’ll never see a negative tasting note.

BWS has 20% off on Cash rewards capped at $25 till midnight tonight
and $2 delivery on app orders over $100

happy hunting 😎

Thanks, two bottles of Pommery, works out at $48 each after cash back (i.e. in 3 months).

EDIT: The fine print says that champagne is excluded from the BWS promotion. I probably won't get the cash back on this. I won't go into detail on whether or not this 'tracks' as I think that clogs the thread a bit but just wanted to warn others.
