Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I tried a bottle of the Silk Road (bought from DM a while back) over 2 days. The bottle I tried was full-on savoury style, definitely not a lush fruit-driven style. On opening the palate was quite lean, tannin showed as quite hard and slightly green-edged. On the second day it had settled a bit, but I wouldn't recommend a buy unless you like that structured, savoury style.
Thanks for the tasting notes. Another example of vinomofo being a bit obtuse about what you're getting. I love my full bodied torbreck, Langmeil Barossa Shiraz that have a rich and little bit of fruitiness/sweetness.

Try Ettalong and Woy Woy stores.

They are close by and have the larger discounts.
thanks! I am up to the central coast next weekend so had a browse 4 * 407 2 * 389 for $311. after 10% off 6, $10 member voucher, 5% gift card. I don't think CR tracks against cleareance but let's see.

Good haul! CR does track against clearance, but not if you use gift card. Still, 5% GC discount better than standard 2% CR.

I remember Bay of Fires Pinot being on that site for purchase in the past? Does it sell out quickly or they have removed it?
Anyone know?
new BoF vintages are released on to Cellar One in October and the pinot noir usually sells out within a few weeks

just checked the website and it seems that the pinot could have been restocked recently - or might be soon - as I don't recall it being listed last month - you could contact them to ask
Later this month apparently with $20 off at checkout :)

unfortunately Cellar One have sold out of the JH99 2018, but are expecting the 2019 towards the end of November

I just browsed some of our local (ACT) BWS stores. Quite underwhelmed even with 20% off. Best I could see were a few Leconfield Cab Savs for $17.50 not incl cb. And it takes a fair bit of work to find those few ok prices. They even had St Hallett Blackwell 'discounted' to $39!!

I would've jumped on those Leconfields @Bill Bosworth but I couldn't replicate that price. 2 for $60 is all I could find before SB.

Is there anything more frustrating than the BWS pricing? If I load 6 or more bottles into the cart, I automatically lose the "multibuy" or "Exclusive Member Offers" price but "gain" a 10% reduction, for an overall nett higher price. It'd give diarrhea the sh!ts that website....

Browsed at Costco WA this morning, noticed
Pepperjack Shiraz 2017 $15.99
Penfolds Bin389 2017(?) $69.99

Certainly not spectacular pricing on those two, but a fair bit cheaper than Dan's if you're in need.

Yep, agree that BWS pricing has sent me pretty spare and wasted a lot of my time. And when you do find a good price, there's often only a couple of bottles of the stuff so you need to go hunt something else and end up with a few bottles of something you only kind of want in order to qualify for some discount for total price or six bottles etc.

Case in point, I did get some 2017 Leconfield from BWS last time for that price, but there were only two bottles so I also got some Chapel Hill and some Yangarra PF, both of which will be fine but not as good. Sigh.

It seems to come from BWS around here having small shops and discounting on a store-by-store basis. Some of the pics on this forum of what has been on offer at other, presumably larger, BWSs has made me very jealous!

Zilzie arrived today, enough going on in it to make it quite drinkable, prefer it to the Tempus Two.
What did you end up with.. I landed some Tendril & Vine from Grays, it reminded me of what was served at the last budget fundraising event I went to. It will go back as soon as I can get someone from grays to respond to my customer service request (has been a week so far, no reply)

I have not used grays wine in a while. When i recently opened the app every listing had a message 'reserve not met' even though some of the prices were clearly high (Standish >$120 ++).

I have never seen silent reserves on grays.

Anybody else come across this?

LOL K, the Tendril & Vine is quite drinkable here, easy to pls with most Aussie Shiraz :)
Maybe your palate was a little off that day, I only ever have mine with blacknburnt Woollies budget sausages on stale white thin sliced bread.

I got the Cab Merlot, maybe that’s the difference
