Never tried this particular one but tried a few other Serafino wines. They do make good wine in general.

I think this one is one of their budget range and designed to be drink it now/BBQ type of wine so not for cellaring. That said - I can't see myself buying a dozen!

Valid point indeed but if half the fun is in the chase and cash is available, then why not? I was in this situation and realised I had too many under the house. Cold Turkey in the buying has worked a treat plus I have been lucky to pass on many dozens to mates at cost. As a result I have not actually spent a cent on wine this year, but I have only bought the more expensive six packs from the Fo. So long as you can afford it who really cares. With stelvin, they last and last.

Oh totally. Buying is half the fun. And I'm in a similar situation where I have a few hundred bottles and have just bought a few more.

But then if you have many tens of thousands worth of low to mid range wine and are looking to sell it, why not drink it instead? Especially when one is looking to buy low to mid range wine anyway? We all are playing the wine discount game, so we all know that RRPs are a guideline and that we can get wine for much less as long as we wait for a good deal for low to mid range, and the same would apply to when you sell it. It's not a slight or an attack, but it's a suggestion.

Top end wine is waaaay out of my league though, so this probably wouldn't apply to those! Not sure how many great deals you can get out of the elite stuff!

very entertained tonight thanks guys.
heres a quick heads up to all players buying on the auction sites. I recently had an order being delivered from Langtons when I Received an email stating that my order was damaged in transit, and as I hadn’t opted to insure my delivery (which I normally do ), I wouldn’t be receiving my wine.
After a call with customer service they didn’t know what was damaged and why, but just that is was gone.
I asked to have my order delivered as is, broken or not hoping that it was only a couple of bottles out of the 12.
Point is that the box of wine was written off as damaged and wasn’t being sent Until I asked for it to be delivered, and it Turns out only 2 bottles were damaged and of the $500+ case I only lost about $70 Worth of wine.
so 1. Insure your delivery
and 2. Make sure it gets delivered no matter what the condition. Only you should be the one to decide if it’s gone or not.

on another note thanks to whoever gave the heads up on the Haselgrove Catkins from VC. had 2 cases delivered today for $120. Amazing deal for a quality wine.

You have accepted the situation far better than I would have.

Just a few notes...
- Langtons operates as both a wine store and auction agent. Products purchased under the wine store (non-Lot items) are covered by ACL and are entitled to refund or replacement for major failures. So there is no need for insurance here, they know this, but it's a free 1.5% checkbox for them.
- Request Australia Post delivery where possible, they cover up to $100 for damaged parcels.
- Check for poor packaging i.e. I have had my Bruno Paillard double stacked and bulging out of those flat boxes that they love using. Thus the point of failure could be argued to have been before the goods were shipped and therefore within their responsibility.
- Tell them their shipping clause is total baloney! Short of Aliexpress, I have not heard of a purchase process where there is a "chance" nothing may arrive due to the incompetance of their own logistics team. This clause is meant to protect them from leakages and old corks that may fall through during shipping, not discharge them from all negligence. I quote "Endeavour Delivery are the experts in transportation and handling of high-value and fragile goods", so is it not reasonable to expect what you paid for.

Respectfully disagree. Under most circumstances, Australian Consumer Law applies and the seller is responsible for successful delivery. e.g. Products missing or damaged in transit

In light of that, never insure your delivery, and ensure its gets delivered in expected condition. If the seller doesnt play ball, reverse the charge on your credit card (also known as a chargeback).

Standard consumer guarentees do not apply to auction items, thus being of acceptable quality would not apply. Only things guarenteed are title possession, free of debt and undisturbed possession, the latter of which the OP seemingly enforced.

Same. Two cases delivered for me yesterday also.. interestingly though they are 18’s and not 15’s as I’m sure was noted on the vintage when I bought.
