Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Just wondering if anyone has come across The Other Bordeaux before, and if so what have they thought? I’m always keen to try new wines (and I’m very slowly branching into some French wines right now), but I don’t have any real insight into value - apart from knowing it’s hard to find a good deal! So if anyone here has any knowledge as to whether this “cutting out the middle man” that they are promoting results in a genuine saving, or is more of a marketing spin, I’d love to hear!

I've spoken to Tom, and he seems like a genuine bloke.

I've gone through the lists, you can buy and he'll hold wine for you til you're ready to ship within a certain time frame.
Most the wines are very reasonably, $20 onwards which is very cheap for French wine.

Weather the wine is good, everyone will have a different opinion & you can go by his judgement plus Google for Vivino, or other reviews if any.

I've found different local stores import different wines, aka Buzz Wines has some Pinots which no one else stocks. I found Winesquare to be generally cheaper than Buzz, on their standard price close to Buzz Wines 30% off sales.

Tom specialises in French wine, so I'd give it a shot. I was going too, but I honestly just forgot! I'll be buying a bunch through him at some stage to try myself :)

When you Google wines, you can compare what it's being sold in Europe compared to an imported price.

If you switch countries on Vivino, it'll also tell you the AVG price within that country. You will find many Australian wines which are $60, sell for $90-100+ overseas etc.

I'm expecting my first order to arrive very soon (you pre-order the wine at the time when they leave France and get them 3 months later).
I know the prices in France and there is obviously a middle man importer price increase here (and a lot of tax...) but he sell stuffs that I can't find anywhere else in Australia at a better price.
He offers free shipping and you can build your dozen the way you want (1 bottle of this, one of that, etc.) so I think that it is a great way to get a little introduction to French wines.

About bloody time BWS had a good cashback

Here are some clearance items for Canberra/South Coast, Melbourne and Brisbane. Will post some for Sydney after I've made my purchases ;)
Do you make a list? That would take ages.

ShopBack is on tomorrow, my friend works for them and keeps me updated. When BWS do it through them, I know CR will too. Apparently they've been difficult and unwilling recently. I think slowly, they'll be less frequent and by waiting I've lost out on solid wines.

I won't wait in future, too many people scout BWS clearance lines these days. You can still save 10% + 5% GC standard.
Plus individual stores have clearance wines which are only available to the particular store I've found down here.

Once it hits 50%< weather it's a solid discount or not they move pretty fast. Too fast to wait for CB I've noticed.

Just on this, when you go to the checkout you get to select red, white or sparkling as your preference. The value of that bonus case is listed, so you can work out which bonus case you will likely be getting (although there are several different options listed when you search the site to check the products listed at that price. Eg. Red value was $78 a case.).

2 years ago I got Gentlemans Collection Red Blend 2017 with a smaller minimum spend. Going from memory only here, but I don't remember it being listed to cross-match on the pricing. This time my tax invoice says "Wynns Coonawarra Estate Mystery Red (Case of 6)" so there's a big hint! :)

These bonus case offers are usually the only time I order from Cellardoor.co. Works out to be good value for quaffers.

UPDATE: Steady has reported seeing "Penfolds Mystery Red (Case of 6)" so YMMV.

What part of the checkout process? after hitting the 'Buy Now" button?

I thought in the past the options showed in your cart, and you selected the variety you wanted before hitting buy now - but it isn't showing in my cart this time.

The option came up for me as soon as I added more than $150 of items to my cart.

Have you reached the $150 spend required?

Is there anything worth buying? I have a $25 birthday month voucher. $125 and a free case sounds decent!
